First one is indeed from the same 1894 (may) sitting; the other photo was taken in 1898

Know what I would like to see more of?  I would love to see more images that portray Nicky and Alix in loving poses.  I understand the technology and etiquette of the time didn't really allow for it...but there is that photo of him kissing her on the stairs, with Sandro and Xenia on the other side and Olga in the middle.  They loved each other so much...the romantic, sappy side of me would like to see more photographic evidence of that.  But I suppose that doesn't exist.

Yes, I think you are right.

That fact is very well-disguised!  Must be the style of the dress - I see a lot of frills and flounce.  Besides the fact that she is sitting with her hands in front of her.
