In previous topics i found interest in interiors of the house of GD Vladimir (nowday outlook). I have many of them, here are some pics. This is not a museum now. It's marvellous.

Thank you very much Annetta for posting your lovely pictures of the Vladimir Palace! Its interiors really are barbarically sumptuous making it a rather fitting home for Miechen IMHO! I wonder how big her jewel vault must have been!!!!

May I ask what a " marital" staircase is ? See last post of floorplan.

(I think we all kinda know what the ‘marital staircase’ is. I recently ran across a plan of the ‘secret’ passage at Versailles connecting the king’s bedroom with the queen’s. A lot more complicated that this staircase. Still...we do what we have to do...)

Odd that they had to use a secret back staircase. I wonder if any of the other palaces have similar "marital staircases" ?
Quite interesting, floorplans reveal so much !
I wonder what they would have to say if they knew someone has discovered their secret staircase 140 yrs later ?

Almost all palaces contain "Marital Staircase."  It was very uncommon for a married couple to share a bedroom and usually the husband's and wife's suites were on separate floors.  Check out the plans for the Yussupov palace and you'll see the staircase in Felix Sr.'s bedroom leading to his wife's suite.
Serge/Elizabeth's palace definitely had one--although I'm not sure that one was used!

Actually it still looks fantastic, I've been in the Palace recently at the concert and the acoustics in the Russian Dining Room is magnificent.
