Pella was near S.Petersburg. It was built for Catherine II

The rail station is still named Pella - as well as the Pella shipyard, well known in Russia for its tourist boats. Otradnoye is just half an hour away by bus or train from Petersburg's Rybatskoye metro station.

Two service buildings - the stables and the post station - were repaired after WWII and are now used for the shipyard's administrative departments.

This seems to have been an extraordinary palace. Why was it destoryed? And are there any more pictures of it?

Even if not officially, a ten dollars note would certainly help.

I read that the demolition of the palace was ordered by Paul I for reusing the materials for the construction of St. Mikhail's Castle in St. Petersburg.
He really don't cared about the fact that Pella was a summer residence of his mother, Empress Catherine II, with whom he had a bad relationship.
