My mother's side of my family has always said that they were related (somehow) to the Romonovs.  I've never attempted to establish a link because I've never heard any surnames in my family history which sound as if they are Russian and now most of that side of my family are deceased.  However, they were all quite versed in the Romonovs and had numerous objects relating to the Imperial Family.  Enough to picque my interest when I was younger, even if I didn't buy into the familial link.  But, as a possible testament to my family's belief, the first time I grew my beard out when I was still dating my wife and before she had heard these stories from my family, she said to me, "You know - you could be a twin to 'that' Tsar - Nicholas was his name?"

Bumping this up because I think the interest of Nicholas II and the Romanovs touches all of us.

As for the books, I have the Youssopov books (3), Grand Duke Alexander Michaelovich (2),

Amelia--

The two books about Grand Duke Aleksandr Mikhailovich--those are his memoirs? Where did you find them? I've searched all over for them, to purchase copies myself, as his wife, the Grand Duchess Ksenia Aleksandrovna is my favourite member of the Imperial Family--and his memoirs, of course, would have a wealth of information about her, him, and their children. Is there any specific place online where I could find them for sale?

Thanks, R.S-C. :)

I guess I can see how some people can find Russian royalty interesting- their personalities can shine forth under a microscope.  Though Nicholas II really needed a reality check.

what got me first intrested in the Romanov's was the Disney..was it Disney? film from 1997.
however i when i watched it i was around 7 and have since realised how inaccurate the film was and how it could been seen as missinforming and slanderous to the Romanov family.
i have since remained interested in their story and continue to annoy my friends with the new Romanov facts i keep learning!!! ;D

Довольно интересное фото ... Кто на фото? Скорее всего это манеж в Царском Селе ?

Interesting enough photo... Who on a photo? Most likely it is an arena in Tsarskoje Selo?

R.s-C - You can find copies of Yusupov's Lost Splendor and Alexander Michailovich's Once a Grand Duke and Always a Grand Duke on most of the out of print book sites.  Try Abebooks.com Alibris.com Addall.com Biblio.com BookFinder.com or just Google "out of print books" and all of those sites will come up.

Depending on the condition of the book and whether or not you want a first edition, the prices can be low $1 USD to several hundred.

Try eBay, too.

More it was pleasant here it is 1918 the Aleksandrovsky palace. As well as assumed in 1st hall there was "exhibition" of toilet accessories (in the end of a roller), it in what that to a measure podtvetzhdaet that Izenshtejn used an arrangement of rooms of the Aleksandrovsky palace and its thing. It would be desirable to see all roller.

It is possible to notice a considerable quantity of the suspended eggs on walls, Izenshtejn in the film has increased their quantity, though actually as I understand during lifetime of their Emperor was not.

Мой Великий Grandfther написал книгу о жизни в те годы, прежде чем они, к сожалению, были executed.I был вдохновителем и вынужден снова опубликовать его работу.
