Nicholas & Alexandra Movie Soundtrack and Downloads of Theme

Hi there,not sure if anyone has discussed the soundtrack recording of Nicholas and Alexandra, I purchased the LP in the late 70.s $60.00 aussie dollars.The music was composed by Richard Rodney Bennett and the score for the movie was influenced by Russian music of the late 19th century and by Russian folk songs.Still waiting for it to released on CD, also there are 22 tracks on the recording, I like the overture, sunshine days and the declaration of war.Regards, Steve

I don't think a CD will be released, who would buy it?
I recently purchased the LP on eBay for € 9,00 that's about 14.00 AUD. Nice to have for sentimental reasons.
I must say I do like most of the tracks. It reminded me a bit of Peter and the Wolf by Prokofiev, every character its own instrument.
I had the tracks tranfered from LP to CD, maybe that's an option to you too.

Thanks, Anna, thats a good idea on transferring the LP  to CD, also the cover of the LP is worth getting framed - beautiful illustration of the Russian Imperial doubled headed eagle, I have seen a smaller copy of it on the cover of the Nicholas and Alexandra movie programme 1971.The movie won 2 Oscars at the 1971 Academy Awards -  for Best Art Direction and Costume Design,anyone know which movie beat Nicholas and Alexandra for best picture, was it Patton. or the Godfather, Thanks,Steve.

Best picture 1971: The French Connection.
Best actor: Gene Hackman - French Connection.
Best actress: Jane Fonda -Klute
Janet Suzman was nominated as best actress.

Patton was released in 1970 and the Godfather in 1972.

I used to own the LP.
It did have a beautiful jacket and photo of Imperical Family on back.
I miss it and wish it would be released on CD.

Hello

Another way to get the soundtrack would be if you have
the pioneer special edition laser disk, and then rip the second audio track which just has the music and transfer to a cd.Which i'am in the process of doing.

I have an mp3 of the beautiful main theme on piano, not from the ost but from another performer. The theme itself is featured quite a bit over pianists' careers.
