Hi. As clarification this painting is the SAME as on the country house portraits website. That is my site and essentially i buy and sell British portraits.i bought this from a small auction house in sussex as i was intrigued by the label on the back.I have no knowledge of the Russian royal family hence posting on this site.It certainly is an original work by salter,but clearly there is some dispute as to who the sitter may be!.The sitter has brown eyes,does this tie in with Marie??  thx

Oh, since this topic is completely dedicated to portraits/paintings of Marie Feodorovna, I want to add some information about the portrait in the reply #85 - it's a work of Vladimir Makovsky, the year is 1885, If I'm not wrong it was made inside of the Gatchina Palace.
