It seems he is willing to admit his guilt to avoid a prison sentence... not good.

Hmm...and then this statement was denied again...what's what and what's true...a bit of a nasty blur here...

The Borbones are certainly not a very popular family here in Spain at the moment.  I think that the Juan Carlistas are beginning to look to Felipe...  The Queen receives a lot of sympathy but isn´t seen as a figure who is very close to the people.  Quite troubling times all in all.  I think the Monarchy might lose a referendum in many parts if one were to be called tomorrow.

Infanta Christina has to appear in Court on april 27th at Palma de Mallorca as it became clear she knew of her husbands embezzling millions of public funding...with a King and a daughter like that the Spanish RF doesn't need enemies...

It isn´t clear that she "knew" of the embezzlement - that is why she will be questioned.  She was on the board of the foundation and now all the members will have appeared before the judge.  This case is becoming increasingly worrying and setting dangerous and ominous precedents.  Did the King know???  The whole case now appears to me to be a witch hunt against the Monarchy, and the old Republicans are rearing their ugly head.  Believe me, they are aiming for the top and will stop at nothing to discredit the King.  Yes, Iñaki got greedy and should pay the penalty, but it is obvious that the underlying intention is not to do justice but rather damage and undermine.  I wish the Infanta and Iñaki had stayed put in Washington...

True Darius!

It was suggested a few weeks ago already that HM knew, but that was what it said:..Suggested,based on a phone-call.
i agree on Washington DC...but then in general distances doesn't keep anyone from whatever these days..

I would be OK with El Rey pulling a Beatrix and Abdicate,I have full confidence in Felipe & Letizia  and it would take
the wind from under the ugly butts of republicans .A young and inspirational couple would be received well considering
circumstances, new hope for a country in deep economic crisis! But that's a different thread..and threads get mixed-up so easily..

In the case of an abdication he too would lose immunity to prosecution and could end up in a similar position to the Infanta...

And I don´t think the Principes of Asturias are seen as very inspirational.  There is a general baying for Royal and political blood at the moment.  I sincerely don´t see any way out if this impasse for the institution.

Oh but I think that's a nagging minority Darius, and they are to be ignored totally, everywhere,as one doesn't do hypes, first,
and second as the majority wishes for the Monarchy to remain intact. With Juan Carlos in his present state, both physically
and under close scrutiny for the elephant hunt and that SWB public woman...,the Monarchy is bound for an uncertain future
to say the very least.Unless,he abdicates in favour of Felipe, who no doubt, will have the full support of Queen Sofia, the only
one for whom Spain really has a truly deep and profound respect and love.

Hi Lucien - I live in Spain and I can guarantee you that love and respect are not words that are associated with any member of the Family.  The figure who attracts most sympathy and respect is Queen Sofía.
