The NA/AN Conversations...
« on: June 05, 2005, 08:34:40 PM »
I can well imagine a play form production of NA and AN on the last night before they went down into the Ipatiev cellar to wait for...Eternity?....
What might a frightened and frustrated father and son have discussed,shouted,cried,moaned...perhaps come to the level of physical tension...about?

Well, since Aleksey was not able to walk, Nikolai carried him. Aleksey was probably in pain, and wanted to get back to bed. Sadly, Nikolai probably would have said something like, "It's okay, Aleksey. They're just taking our pictures. You can sleep afterwards." :( But, lots of probablys...

Both father and son had tons of patience, it is true.   I can see the Emperor starting to apologize to his son for losing the throne, messing up the future, and getting them into that mess, and the little Heir doing his best to forget premonitions of the end while assuring his father that the present circumstances were not all his fault.

Interestingly enough:  According to something I read on an internet search, Cat Stevens, AKA Yusuf Islam, was supposed to have been working on a musical about the Romanovs and Rasputin at one time and the only thing that was salvaged from the attempt got transformed into the song 'Father and Son'.   Wonder if anything in the lyrics still refers to Nicholas and Alexei?

I always wondered what the IF said to each other this last tragic night, what they felt when they saw the guns of the murderers, what they felt when shots reached they bodies...But of course we must know we never will know this things. This cellar is my nightmare, and as a Romanov fan, I'm always thinking in the very LAST moment. It's not morbosity, but knowinf the IF fate, I can't help to wonder about it. Sorry... :-/

I can imagine NA/AN coming to a deep understanding of who they are and who the other might be...on that last night...

The guards come in to tell them it's time to go down into the cellars to await the trucks to take them away...

stage fade to black....

Well, Olga probably thought, "I knew this was going to happen, here it comes..." :( The rest probably just felt nothing but panic. Anyone know how long it took for the murderers to finish their terrible jobs?

Too much controverse about this...I read that the whole thing lasted around 20 minutes or so...And there was also the time to clean the cellar that was splashed all around by blood.  :-/

I read that Nikolai, Aleksandra, and Olga were shot first, leaving Tatiana, Maria, Anastasia, and Aleksey, or am I wrong? And beyonets (sp?) were brought in afterwards to finish off Anastasia and another sister. Can someone tell me the order in which they were killed? Something isn't making sense...

I know. :( It's really sad. But I was trying to figure out who got bayonetted, and how long it would have taken to bring the bayonets in because 20 mins just doesn't seem right to me for some reason.

Lanie (I think) told me earlier on a post that she thinks it was more of a massacre, and it's not really possible to say "who died when" and all. It was more of an all-at-once kind of thing. If I fing that post I'll link it if you want.

If you really want the greusome details, FATE OF THE ROMANOVS by King & Wilson is the latest and most thorough account. But Rissia is correct- it was an "all at once" . There was no time to carry on any kind of a conversation. It really serves no purpouse to speculate about this.
