I look like a porcelain doll too.  People always comment on how "beautiful my pure white skin is."  ::)  It annoys me that I can't have any natural tan to darken myself a bit.  Plus my eyes are extremely blue.   But I have to say that I like my looks and I like being tiny. ;D

Do you have the light golden hair to go with it? I think the only way I DON'T have the 'doll look' is that my hair is straight instead of in ringlets. *rolls eyes* Mum's always telling me to go out and get some colour, except the only colour I get is sunburn red. *sigh* I have the vividly blue eyes, too, so it makes things interesting.

Welcome to the Porcelain Doll Club...just make sure some little girl doesn't accidentally take you home. ;)

Regards,
Arianwen

Well my hair is kind of a light chestnut and when it gets curled in big rag curls I look quite interesting. lol :D  Unfortunately the only color from the sun I can get is a red or pink burn.  It's sad. :'(  But I don't think any little girls will take me home, haha.  Perhaps some little boys will. ;) (Just kidding ::))

Congrats Merrique!

It seems strange for me to think you people finish school in the middle of the year - here the school year is from late January/early February to early/mid December which as a child seemed so logical. Even in Japan it was from April to March so not hugely different from NZ. Still I guess with summer in the middle of the year, it makes sense.

lol Hey, boys actually CAN take us home. ;D Well, some of us unmarried dolls. ;) I'm like you, I burn instead of tanning, and yet, Mum made me buy SPF 15 this summer, because I 'don't get any colour with that 30 stuff'. *rolls eyes* I still have my SPF 30 for when I go to the beach with my in-laws this year, and lots of SPF 45 for Laura. Take that, Mum. :P

So we definitely have the Porcelain Doll Club established. Want to be vice-president to my president?

Congratulations to Merrique and her girls!!  Great job   :D

I can relate to the "Porcelain Doll" club a bit too.    Sure, I can tan.....but only after I burn!  Although I don't have the beautiful golden hair of Arianwen or Michelle.  Mine's a light brown, but too short for any ringlets  ;D ;)

Oh Val, I don't have golden hair.  I have light chestnut brown hair with natural blond highlights in it.  I look like a porcelain doll because I'm so tiny and because of my pasty white comlexiong and light blue eyes.

Hey, Arianwen, why can't I be president? heehee. lol  Okay.  I'll be vice pres since I am younger anyway. ;)

I have just today become aware of this whole section of threads and posts, and I would appreciate it if all of you would humour me while I contribute a few details about myself.

I have been married for 14 years and we have two furbabies.  My husband is a hairstylist and we own a salon.  I work as an assistant to a financial advisor.

My favourite movies include A Room With a View, Impromptu,The Full Monty,The Piano, The Red Violin, Austin Powers- International Man of Mystery, Bridget Jones' Diary, Dogs in Space, Moulin Rouge, Chicago, and Master and Commander.
I read mostly non-fiction, but some works of fiction that I enjoyed are:  Gone With the Wind, Memoirs of a Geisha, and She's Come Undone.
My favourite poet is ee cummings.
My favourite music includes Haydn's Cello Concerto in C, Bach's Six Suites for Unaccompanied Cello, almost anything by U2, the arias Nessun Dorma, O Mio Babbino Cara and La Luna, most Beethoven, most Chopin.
I love to garden, play tennis (badly), and play cello (even worse).
That's me in a nutshell.  (help, help, I'm stuck in this nutshell...)
I will post a photo of myself and perhaps one of my home at a later time.

Thank you for your indulgence.

I thought I'd share some pictures of the kids that I worked with for the past six weeks.  Tomorrow is my last day with them, and I don't think that I will work with them again, becasue I had them the previous summer as well.  They are all students with special needs, and are absolutely precious.  I'll post the three pictures that I have on my computer so far, and add more as I go along.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/Daria5381/Briannaandme.bmp  This is Brianna and I relaxing on the mat and listening to music in our classroom.  Bree communicates by using a special switch and is wheelchair bound.  She can walk with a special pacer, and her favourite things are being on the mat, listening to music (but not nursery rhymes) and just spending time wtih anyone who'll give her attention.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/Daria5381/jacobandme.bmp  This is Jacob after he had his hip surgery and was bed-ridden for about three weeks.  He can say some words, and walks with a pacer.  He's can be a handful, because he pinches, but I otherwise a very very sweet child.  Him and I spent a lot of time together last summer, and this summer proved to be the same.  I'm very proud of him for attempting to pronounce my name, though most of the time he just calls me and all the other adults in the room and building "Mama".

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/Daria5381/Brianna.jpg  This is another picture of Brianna.  I took it this morning after seh came off the bus.  She was in a very good mood and I just wanted to capture that on camera.

Anyway, that's it for now, because the rest are still on my mobile and I'm in the process of emailing them to myself.  I'll post them when they are on my computer.

I think that you porcelain doll princess types have had enough admiration for one lifetime!  :D

I would like to start the AP chapter for the big, tall and chunky brigade, starting with me, its instigator, Shrek/UncleFester lookeelikee...!  :D :D

Come on you big, tall, well endoed and upholstered members, challenge the tyranny of the Meissen figurines and lets celebrate our embonpoint and generous proportions!  :D :D :D

I take exception to that remark Martyn!  I will have you know that I can get down and dirty with the best of them, I can drink my Guinness like I was born Irish and I am willing to wreck my French manicure during the consumption of a lobster.
