Forum Members part 3
« on: June 05, 2005, 09:46:28 PM »
I'm starting a new forum members thread because those other ones (ESPECIALLY that first one) I simply cannot load when I want to reply.  So please everyone, reply to anything from the other threads on this thread from now on because me and I'm sure others can't handle all those pages.  I would appreciate please. :)

Well what I was trying to reply on the first one but couldn't (>:() was that I would also like to join the small persons club.  I'm 5'4 (although I know Lanie doesn't like to hear about how "short" I am ;)); my wrists are two inches across; my hips are about ten inches apart, my waist is seven and a half inches; and my bone structure is extremely tiny.  I hope I qualify. ;D

I guess I'm a member of the short people club too.I'm 5'1 and it's pretty bad when my almost 14 year old daughter is taller than I am.She knows not to cross me though cause she knows Mom's got a nasty temper when you make her mad.

I haven't taken any measurments of myself as yet, when I do I might post them. ;) Although if anyone needs some donations in the chest department I'll be happy to share some of mine seeing as I'm a 36DD :o

I'm 31 and I still get carded sometimes for everything.I guess that's good that I still look so young. ;D

I must say the rest of you ladies are lucky that your small size gets you some help on occasion.I have this air about me that says "I may be short but I've a nasty temper and I can take care of myself thank you very much" so I don't seem to get much help for some reason. :-/ Oh well such is life.

I think I've rambled on for long enough now. :D

Well, I am firmly ( or wobbly) in the " Mary Adelaide of Teck on a fat day" club. Being 5 feet 10 inches does, however, stretch the wobbly bits out a bit ::) And I have to say that i do scrub up well and can look quite fetching at times. Oh for a whale bone corset but if i wore one i would end up with a 20 inch waist and a neck measuring 3 feet across, ;D ;D ;D

Another 'shorty' for the club here - 167 cm (about 5 foot 6, I think) and 62 kg which is probably about right (but I have no idea what that is in pounds or stones) ;D

::) No, that's not true of me, too...;) About three years ago, during one of my many visits to Johns Hopkins to see my husband, we were playing a sort of truth-or-dare, and someone asked my husband who he was most afraid of. At the time, I was in the kitchen, one room over, making chocolate chip cookies. His response was, 'Arianwen in a temper.' A few people laughed, a few others rolled their eyes, and one said loudly, 'What, Betty Crocker in there? What's she going to do, attack me with sewing or knitting needles?'

'Who the bloody hell are you calling Betty Crocker?!' they heard me yell from the kitchen, and my husband started snickering, all the while hoping I wasn't going to come out with a butcher's knife in my hand or the like. Apparently, from the side, a metal spatula looks like something else. ::) ;) Plus, I have a fencer's habit of the way I hold things in my hand like I'd hold a sword when I'm not actively using said object. There was a nice little tirade that followed, though I wasn't really angry, just slightly annoyed. I had to prove my husband's point, though. ;) Needless to say, it was the last time anyone in that house dismissed me as just the porcelain doll I look like. ;D

You, too? Well, now I seem to have settled into a D, which is only slightly larger than before pregnancy, so I'm all right with that. Thank God for minimser bras, right?

I'm the same way. I was dressed in a suit, with makeup on and my hair pulled back, and I was STILL told I couldn't be a day over seventeen on a train. I was even carded. This being when I was twenty-two...*snickers* My brother just turned eighteen this weekend, and someone asked if I was his younger sister. lol We went on to explain that we were five years apart, and as this person knew Alex was a junior in high school at the time, she just turned to my brother with an incredulous look and asked, 'How many grades did you repeat?' Then again, Alex at least looks his age. ;)

Men usually learn that about me later, that I'm short and delicate, but I can still handle myself. I broke my left wrist in three places playing rugby when I was seven, and while everyone was screaming for my mum, I hid my wrist behind my back, protruding bone through skin and all, so she wouldn't make me stop playing. Also, I grew up playing rugby with a group of mates and cousins, all of whom are taller than me. The shortest bloke in our group was 5'11", so I'm used to running people down. ;D Ballet and figure-skating at least go along with my image. Fencing, football, rugby, getting into wrestling matches and donnybrooks (fist-fights) with my brother and my other mates...well, that doesn't fit so well with the faerie-tale princess image, I suppose...::)

Arianwen

I have this weird habit of getting progressively younger looking ever since ninth grade.  My 12 year old seventh grade picture looks like I'm eighteen (in my face and hair anyway).  And my pictures of me now at seventeen look like I'm twelve. ::)  It's incredibly strange.  My eighth grade picture also looks quite old, probably around eighteen or nineteen when I'm only thirteen.  It's funny though to look at my fourth grade picture at nine years old and my seventh grade picture only three years later and see how in three years I went from nine to eighteen! lol But perhaps it is a blessing in disguise?

I actually wish I could join the small person's club!  But, I'm about 5'10", so I guess that rules me out!   Everyone always tells me how wonderful it is that I am tall, but sometimes it's so difficult to find pants that are long enough, and also long sleeved shirts too!  My Mom and sister are about 5'2", and I wish for their height all the time   8)

Oh come, come Val!! Being tall is far superior to being small (like me at 5' or there abouts!). Think of the advantages!!
You don't have to climb up the shelves to reach for what you want in the supermarket & end up bringing all the cans down on top of you!
You can watch a football match, not just the back of someone else's head.
You don't buy shorts that end up being 'longs'!
You don't have to sit on the bus with your legs dangling & not reaching the floor.
The doctor doesn't look you up & down as though something is missing.  ::)
If you get a job as a nurse, you don't have to have specially made uniforms which the sewing women find great pleasure in telling you are in "dolls' sizes ha, ha, ha!"  Huh!!
You command attention. It is a statistical fact that most people in positions of 'power' are tall people.
You don't have to stand on the foot rest thing to get served at the bar.
There now!! Isn't that better  ;D ;D

Bluetoria - you are a riot!  Thank you for the good reasons to be tall, sounds so much like what my Mom tells me too!   I don't really have any reason to complain, except for the clothing department :)  And towering (well, not really towering!) above many men that I know ( including my Dad and best friend - although they would never admit it   ::)  )   Sometimes I feel so akward being tall tho  ;)

-Val  :D

Val, I wouldn't worry about towering over the men; there are ways & means around everything! Just sit down a lot!! Many years ago I (being 5') went out with a man who was  6'2". I used to stand on a chair to kiss him which is pretty difficult to do when you're dancing!!  ;D A new form of dancing -'chairobics??  ;D ;D  ;D

Count me in, I'm ordering a copy, too. Congratulations, luv! *hug*

I hit 5' when I was twelve, and didn't grow again until I was eighteen. When I hit puberty, the only place I filled out was the bust. I stayed quite boyish in the waist and hips, and still am, for the most part. When I was 5', I was dating a bloke who was 6'3", and while I can't say it was one of the reasons I showed him the door, he's still the tallest bloke I've ever dated. ;) Luckily, I DID get to be 5'4", but I still have all my tall heels, which I can still wear and be significantly shorter than my 6' husband. lol As for doll sizes...I have the porcelain doll look, in addition to the build and stature, so I REALLY catch it. *groans*

Arianwen

I look like a porcelain doll too.  People always comment on how "beautiful my pure white skin is."  ::)  It annoys me that I can't have any natural tan to darken myself a bit.  Plus my eyes are extremely blue.   But I have to say that I like my looks and I like being tiny. ;D
