I am stating maybe it was a family trend. Anyway according to the letters she wrote home from Greece, Elisabetta was trying to fit in with the Greeks but she was never given the chance. Poor George was torn between his love for his wife and loyalty to his mother. When the marriage turn out childless, Elisabetta became bitter as she so hope to give George a child.
