SAINT PETERSBURG:CAPITAL OF THE RUSSIAN EMPIRE [Russkaya Kniga/Liki Rossii] is a wonderful picture book of that era, with a lot on Nevski. It is primarily in Russian, but the pictures are self-exlpanatory. I forget where I obtained it, but I think I saw in in  the big bookshops on Nevski when there a few weeks ago.

DO NOT USE THE INTERVIEW SECTION TO ASK QUESTIONS. IT is strictly for Question and Answer sessions with experts conducted by us. THIS question is being moved to its proper thread under BOOKS which is what you want to know.

Yes, I can recommend this book as well. While this is not a new publication (1993), this book is a compilation from the famous Karl Bulla's photographic studios located on Nevsky Prospect prior to the revolution.  :)

The book "Saint Petersburg, Capital of the Russian Empire" is one of my favorite books. The photographs are wonderful. I would recommend it to anyone interested in pre-1917 Russia.

If I remember correctly, I bought my book new on an upper floor at Dom Knige, the old Singer Sewing machine building, across from the Kazan Cathedral. One should be able to find a copy if one does a good sweep of the art oriented book stores near the Admiralty.
