Alexandra Fedorovna's bedroom [Nicholas I's wife]
« on: June 11, 2005, 12:27:13 PM »
I have a great doubt:

if you look at these two plans you see that the bedroom of Alexandra Fedorovna (Nicholas I's wife) then bedroom of Maria Fedorovna (NUMBER 29 of second plan) is in two different positions...WHY?

AND

If you also give a look to this watercolur you see that after the door there are only two rooms and not three as they are in the secon plan.....

As this watercolour was made after Alexandra Fedorvna's death (1865, becouse the bed is disclosed), the Alexandra Chapel memorial was already been built so through the door you should see three rooms....

Besides the room called Blue Budoir looks orange.

Hi Gleb!

It seems to me the first floorplan shows the Palace at some earlier time (no doubt someone will know at what time). Hau's watercolor was done in 1861 (it's signed and dated), indeed after Alexandra Feododrovna's death (1860).

Looking closely at this watercolor, it's obvious to me a very narrow room can be seen, then the Empress' s study (corner room). Therefore, her room must have been No. 30 on the second plan, not No. 29.
