Wasn't it all three uncles, Vladimir, Sergei and Pavel who pressured Nicholas to go the French Ball?  I agree with Dominic that the three uncles would be a great subject for a book.

There has got to be a ton of info in the archives about Serge.  I say this because I want there to be tons of info about him.  Which must mean there is. <giggle>

A bio of him would be fascinating.

I think it was Vladmir, Sergei and Alexei. Paul, who was the youngest of Nicky's uncles, didn't bother him too much. It was the older three that made the most trouble.

I agree.  I had never seen any actual photos of Sergei's murder scene right after or his carriage. I have seen photos of AII's carriage.  Thank you!

Not really a picture, but I thought it could go here.

Has anyone seen a picture of the time his burial was "found"?

I like a lot the paint of him, it's nice to see his regard, he had beautiful blue eyes, I'm sure they bring a bit of warmth to his image of cold strict man we are used to read about

I've always been interested in Serge Alexandrovich wanting to know how 'bad' he really was.  Clearly he was odd, eccentric, maybe troubled and abit deviant, balance that against Ella and the press on him didn't seem quite right to me.  But that's only a gut feeling.  I would also be interested in pictures or a write up regarding his reburial in Sept 1995.

I've begged Greg King and others to write a book on the son's of Alexander II for years - but with no success.  But ever the optimist, I remain hopeful!

Thanks for the pictures - does anyone have any information or pictures regarding the discovery of his remains and subsquent reburial?

thanks folks.

Russian Orthodox Patriarch Alexey II led the ceremony which was attended by some dignitaries, such as the Mayor of Moscow, dozens of state officials and some members of the Romanov family (who wept during the ceremony). Much of what was written of the reburial concerned it as a possible precursor to the burial of Nicholas II and his family since the confirmation of the bones found in 1991 were indeed those of the Imperial family.
