RIP. I wonder where he was buried at the fortress of Peter & Paul ?

If my memory serves me correctly, his remains (what little was left after the blast) were/are not at SS. Peter and Paul.   Regards,  AP.

Later:  I understand that they have their second and final resting place at the Novospassky Monastery in Moscow, as of September 17, 1995. I see that the two burials have been previously covered early in this thread.     AP

I wonder why Sergei's diaries were not translated from Russian to English, given that he was married to the Queen of Great Britain's granddaughter and uncle of Earl Mountbatten of Burma.

YES! Those books are very hard to find and buy. I have volume 1 & 2, but have not been able to find 3 or 4 for years. I honestly have been actively looking

Of course things can be translated, it's just a matter of who is going to take the time to do it.
If it's an interest to a unofficial translator (*cough* like you and I *cough*) you always run into the trouble of the time it would take one person to translate diaries/letters of that volume, and if it's an accurate translation. If it's an official translator (or team of translators), we're looking a a lot of money. Sadly, unless someone here takes it on as a project of love, I don't see it happening anytime soon.

Edited to add:
There was a thread [here] that showed the sincere interest in seeing these volumes translated.

They do, indeed. I wish you could read these volumes, Eric, and get from those documents, letters and diaries extracts a new idea of GD Serge, less caricatural, less concentrated on the whole "sexual and tyran" gossip. The most interesting are certainly his letters to Paul Alexandrovitch.
