Knowing now for sure that none of the claiments were true, looking back, which one of the claiment's stories would you have most liked to be genuine?

Personally, I would have liked Larissa Tudor's story to be true. Although she herself died young, wouldn't it have been lovely for Tatiana to have ended her days in quiet dignity and content with the love of her Prince Charming?

I wouldn't want any of the stories to be genuine.

The horror of watching your family being brutally murdered right in front of you and being the sole survivor would have, most undoubtedly, haunted the individual for the remainder of their life. That's not a future I would have chosen for anyone.

I agree, Holly. If one of them had survived, surely would carry this huge scar for life. Would be a traumatized and depressed person, always with those horrible scenes in mind.

Plenty of people have survived similar or worse situations, and while it certainly would have been traumatic and scarring- many have gone on to live fulfilled lives.  And they do manage to cope with life- have families and jobs and even happy times.  Many people can be very resilient.  Think of Holocaust survivors, Rwandan genocide survivors- almost every war has its victims who have seen their families (or whole villages) slaughtered.  You can't make generalizations about how people might or might not react- it's just not that simple.

People are survivors by nature- any true Romanov survivor would have had support from friends and family and probably gone on to live a life in honour and memory of her lost family.

I'm aware that people have escaped similar situations. And I'm aware that it would be possible to have some sort of enjoyable life. I wasn't making a generalization, I was making an educated guess based on what I know about the children, which is what you did with your last statement. You also cannot say that they 'probably would have gone on to live a life in honour and memory of her lost family'.

Obviously, no one can every say for sure how one individual would react to a certain situation, considering that people are PEOPLE. But I do know that considering how they were raised and how sheltered and close-knit they were, the loss of their entire family (their world) would have been considerably harder to overcome, especially when the idea of even have a family and a job would have been even more difficult for them.

The thought of Anna Anderson actually being a member of the family would have been horrible due to the changes in her as shown by Frau anderson in later years. It would have been to sad to bear

Micheal HR, I couldn't agree with you more. It is a shame that the undignified behaviour of Anna Anderson was ever associated with Anastasia, but thankfully Anastasia's memory has now been vindicated.

Holly and Lady Nicolievna, I totally understand  and respect your point about the inevitable anguish a survivor would have had to deal with, in asking this question it was not my intention to make light of this, and I apologies if this was how it came across.

My reason for asking this was that from the time I had first heard of the Larissa Tudor story, I have to admit I had hoped (definately a case of heart over head) that it was true, and wondered if anyone else had had a survivor story that they had felt the same way about.

No need to be sorry, Midoushka, I completely understand what you mean. And at some point, we all wanted to at least one of them to had survived.  ;)

Alas, this was not a Disney movie, in which the Prince showed up in the nick of time to save the day  :(
