Forum Privacy
« on: July 03, 2005, 10:11:18 AM »
I saw something in one of the threads that disturbed me greatly.  A user suggested that a Moderator, or the FA could read your Private Messages. I want to make it quite clear that this is not possible.  Your user account is private, even to me. The only thing I can see is your user profile.  I can not see your password. I CAN re-set your password if you wish, but you are free to then change it and I will not know it.

I just want any "conspiracy theorists" to rest assured that your PM's are not available to anyone else EVER, including me.

Thanks FA.   I was rather troubled by the implication.   I know many posters on this Forum have made and maintain warm friendships, friendships which would never have existed had it not been for the auspices of the Alexander Palace Discussion Board.

It is an extraordinary turn of mind which can think that something so constructive as exchanging opinions and ideas as well as developing new contacts and friends, can be sullied by such an implication.

I am sure everyone else who enjoys the facilities Bob and yourself so generously bring to us all, will heartily endorse - my thanks and your reassurance that no snooping goes on here.

I PM with a lot of members here and I've never doubted my privacy. If it wasn't trustworthy I don't think other members would do the same. Only wonder why somebody should make the suggestion it doesn't. Ignorance or to stir up ??

I agree. This never crossed my mind once (and I think I can speak for a few other people when I say they feel the same way).

I agree,Anna. One should not  post  anything, I repeat anything on the internet, they don't want the whole world to read. This is not to impugn the integrity shown  here. These are just safe guidelines..-D

I will repeat what Rob has said - NO System Admin or moderator can read your private messages - all the passwords are secret.  I am not sure where this crazy rumor started - obviously somebody was speculating or wanted to make trouble in the forum.

I guess there's always gonna be someone who wants to stir the pot and then go "why's the pot stirred?"

I never thought that the moderators or Forum's owner can read my Private Messages.
