I just got a copy from the Netherlands for about $30. (Woo-hoo!   )

I agree, it's a lovely book -- beautifully made & arranged, and with a good number of photos new to me -- but I have to admit, I was expecting to be completely blown away by a book that's been known to fetch prices of $200+, and I wasn't. In my opinion, it's well worth double what I paid for it, but I wouldn't recommend devoting hundreds of dollars to it.

Damn, Sarahelizabethii, and I thought I had paid a good price at $70! *looks glum* I don't expect it to be a book so brilliant that I will cherish it to death (like I do my Toys of the Tsar's Children ), but it's a good reference book and something interesting to own.

I love "Jewel Album" and I guess I was lucky to get it off of Amazon for about $20 used.  The rare photos of Grand Duchess Olga Alexandrovna are very nice.

I bought this from a bookstore near by, for 15.00 dollars. They had two copies and the other copy is still sitting there., months later.  I can get the other copy if anyone wants and ship it out.......It is second hand, and does have wear and tear. (But quite readable)

You won't regret it Laura. It is a nice book to have, with some nice pictures, and the usual one or two photos with Grand Duchesses mixed up! I think I paid considerably more than $15 for mine, but it was (thankfully) not mind-bogglingly expensive.

I bought mine for about $40 a few years ago. I thought it was a little pricey at the time, but now that I'm seeing what it's going for on some websites I'm starting to think I got a really good deal!   I love the book, it's definitely one of my favorites.

FYI: There's a copy of this book for sale by a bookseller in Australia for just under $30 US! That's the best price I've seen online since I bought mine.

And now I have the book!
I recieved it in the mail today, and I have already read the intro. It looks great. Reads well, also.
I never realised that it was actually an album of the Tsar's Jewels! I thought that "Jewel" meant that it was a "special" album of the Tsar.
Oh, well, it came as a good surprise. I will scan the pics from it when I have the time.
Lately, I haven't had time to be in this forum, since I am now a member of others.. I'll try, though.

I've heard great things about it - amongst them are the idea that there are rare pictures of the IF - is this true?

Any pictures of the book would be much appreciated --
