Don't be overly harsh on the spelling! In many European languages it is spelt foto.

As for Maria's last known photo, I would think either the ones where the Emperor and his children are sitting on the greenhouse roof at Tobolsk, or the one of the daughters walking about in the courtyard at Tobolsk would be the last known ones of Maria. The other three daughters with Alexei were all photographed on board the Rus on their way to rejoin their parents and Maria at Ekaterinburg. If any photos were taken of them after that, they are either destroyed or whereabouts unknown.

Sort of, but it was taken not long after the revolution in 1917, well before they had their hair shaved. There are lots of photos taken during their Tsarskoe imprisonment, though most of these are stuck in the Grand Duchesses' photo albums so not readilly available, or only available as tiny pictures in photographs of whole pages of the albums.

The picture Grand Duchess 42 posted is while they were still at Tsarskoe, so while not the last photo, one of the last.

i agree her hair is beautiful up... she looks so grown up. and as for maria she does look more older than she is supposed to be.

I'm Argentinian, and of course, I make lots of spelling mistakes , since my first language is Spanish and the second, French. I'm now a "Senior Palace Member", but some people keeps making very harsh remarks to me stating that "they doesn't understand me". This is, of course fake. They said they doesn't understand me for they doesn't like what I'm saying in a particular message.   I said it, for I notice that some English native speakers (especially some of the youngers of them) write making spelling mistakes (that even me, who am not an English native speakers may notice) and nobody said a word to them. And without mentioning the people who write in "chat slang", making their post poorly understables.

But don't worry, Robby. Most of Forums members are nice people and wouldn't hurt you. You'll like almost all people here. Here it's like a family, really.  A very loving and caring family. You'll love here!

Well, we know the latest one that was taken that we know of but there might have been some taken later in Ekaterinburg but no one has seen them so we don't know if they exist, it is just rumoured. But of the ones we know, Maria's last photographs were probably this one:



and there was one taken of some children playing in the snow at Tobolsk that I saw in Victor Alexandrov's book, but it was kind of fuzzy and I couldn't tell if it was Maria or Olga!

I would if I had access to a scanner! Maybe someone else can -- it's in Victor Alexandrov's 'The End of the Romanovs'. It
s very blurry though. It might be somewhere on this forum ...i will have a look.
