Maria's last known fotograph

The girls in the snow are Olga and Anastasia. I would agree that the photos of them on the roof or of all of them in the yard at Tobolsk are the last known photos in which Maria appears.

From right to left you have Tatiana and Maria, but who's the other on the left? Is it Anastasia???

Yes that's Anastasia.

Maybe she was. maybe it was the Tsar. Anyway, as that photo was taken when they were convalesing from measles, it's not one of the last photos, as they continued taking photos right through their captivity tot he end. There's lots of photos from spring and summer 1917 in their albums.

If it was right after the measles then why do they have hair? Just wondering.

I read that the family before the execution they had a photograph taken of them individually.  To she the paraliment what state of health the family was in before their execution.

It was before their heads were shaved. Their heads weren't shaved until summer - I think about June, off hand.

Because their hair was starting to fall out and if you shave it, it grows back faster.

Also I expect it would help it grow back evenly. It was probably falling out in patches, so shaving was the only option.

As I say, I can't recall now where I got the photo, it was years ago, but it did claim to be one of the last taken while they were in captivity. Maria doesn't look much like herself, but there's not really anyone else it could be. I'm sure the other sister is Tatiana.

I hope the link works and the photo is not a boring old one that everyone has seen before.

Where is that from? I saw it for the first time in the famous old (sixties) and bad Viktor Alexandrov`s book. I do not know his sources.

I like the photo, but they look different than in their other photos, they look... I don't know...
sad??, poor girls, is really sad to think that they were assasinated short time before :'-(
