Not a gentleman then. Everybody knows that I am making a comment.

Everybody knows that you comment everything and everywhere and most of your posts don't add any new and informative to discussions.

Please just let's stop here and BACK to the topic.

I do wonder if Princess Grace would have made "Marnie" had she been able to do so. The script was actually too risque for a member of any royal family to make. The closest thing was Princess Margaret appearing in a Peter Seller's film.

Eric and I have been in private communication and have reached detente on this matter. For now, I feel the matter should be put to rest. Having felt insulted by a post, I don't want anyone else to feel insulted in return. I think we know Eric's views and he knows our response. It is best now to return to the Grimaldis and the lauding of Princess Grace for her charm and elegance--something which all of us, I'm sure, can agree she was a model of. :  )

Had she still been a working actress, I'm sure she would've. Hitchcock wanted her for the role and she did some of her best work in his movies. She may have wanted to rise to the challenge of playing a character so dimetrically opposed from her usual roles--a chance to stretch her acting muscles ala The Country Girl.

I agree. Although the resulting movie wasn't that great. Tippi Hedren got the part, so Grace actually dodged a bullet.

Marnie is actually fairly well-regarded nowadays, though not on par with Hitchcock's best. Hedren was a rather wooden actress, Grace Kelly might've done more with the role.

Although as Princess of Monaco. it will be hard to indulged herself into the role of a sex abuse victim. That is actually more Lana Turner territory.

No, that was why I had said if she was still just the actress Grace Kelly when the role came around. I think she would've gone for it. She was sorely tempted even in her royal position so I think without that barrier, it would definitely have been hard for her to pass up working with Hitchcock for the 4th time.

Yes. She was Hitchcock's perfect foil in his movies. He tried to find it in Eva Marie Saint, Tippi Hedren and Kim Novak. It was really not the same...

Just saw High Society again tonight. Grace was so perfectly stunning when she left her Hollywood career.

September 14, 2012 marks the 30th anniversary of Princess Grace's passing. :(

I found a blog about Grace some of you may enjoy.  It has some truly remarkable photographs of her, many of which I've never before seen, taken over every stage of her life, although I visit it to look the photos, not read the commentary!

I remember that day...the torch was passed to Princess Diana, as she attended the funeral later. She was not to know that she too was to be killed in an auto accident...

I think she would be at peace. Hope her children are too. Princess Stephanie's life spun out of control after Grace's death.
