Tanya is my favorite of the four girls.

I think one point was brought up in another thread that Tatiana had less "defining" characteristics that some of the other girls had. For some reason, we don't know as much about who Tatiana was.

All persons are important in their own way. I wouldn't said that anyone is unimportant, and much less "unlovable". I like the whole Imperial Family, so I like to know more and more infos about Tatian... However, I must said she is the girl that I like the less among OTMA. But it's a personal thing...She is not unfriendly to me, but there is something in her who stops me cold to like her as much as I like her sisters. I notice something "not too interesting" about her. I'm guilty for I don't like her enough, but it's me. Is just me...I don't think Tatiana wouldn't be interesting if I was interested in her.  :)

Olga is my favorite one, and next to Olga, I like Anastasia. The third one is Maria. Olga is the dreamer, the "intellectual", the one who liked to read, was romantic and had an interesting humour sense; Anastasia was the family clown, the girl who liked to climb trees and to make jokes. She was funny, and I like funny persons. And then Maria...The sweet Maria, almost the family angel, the beatiful fatty girl , a little clumsy but lovely, who wanted to be a mother herself and kissed little babies picking them from their mother's arms.

But Tatia...Well. She is unfriendly TO ME. I may said that she was the practical one, the most "imperial" of the girls, the one who knew HOW to perform her official duties withoung being embarrassed, the "governess"...But these are not appalling things TO ME. You must accuse me of doesn't like her. The wrong is with me and not with Tatiana.

Tatiana is definatly one of my favorites, I believe in her time, she was also seen as the "Russian Beauty" I don't think she is less talked about, but more of there isn't as much controversy over here then there are Anastasia and Maria. However, if you do want to see something quite interesting on Tatiana, I would go here

Very interesting, Laura Mabee. I like to read this article time to time, for the first time I saw it, I was amazed . There is a lot of new infos about "perhaps the missing one is Tatiana", that I liked to know.

Yeah...of course, my mind changes every day about which girl survived. If they did survive.

I think Tatiana' skull has to be hers. Such high cheekbones, which I think was her best feature.

Also the height, which I think is the best argument. She was tallest.

But this is really out of place in this thread.

I think most people like Tanya for her love for fashion and boys but her able to balance it enough to make herself be practical and studious when she felt she had too. I think this is a wonderful quality, and it must have built character.

Perhaps she is sometimes seen that way. She wasn't a cold person just unemotional. Emotions weren't her strong suit. She doesn't give you anything you can empathize with. You can't really relate to her, in a real way. She was beautiful, and liked clothes and and such. She was practical, and got things done. You can admire her, as I do, but not really relate to her. She can be loved, but she can't be related to.
So, that can limit the ability of one to relate to her, or love her.

Well, it could possibly have something to do with how unattractive she appears nowadays in comparison to the other grand duchesses. She was also Alexandra's favorite and didn't have a rebellious bone in her body. She was quite frankly not all that interesting.

I think that is being a little presumptuous. Tatiana had character just like the rest of her sisters. I know Lanie is working on an amazing write up about Tatiana. I think she had quite an interesting life.

She had the same life as the others. And you do not know if she had a "rebellious bone" in her body. Actually, she did crazy things just like her sisters. I don't know where you got that. Even though she did what she was told and watched out for her siblings, it doesn't mean that that was all she did. I have read tons of her letters, and she tells of things she did along with her sisters. Throwing paper balls out the window at people passing by with Anastasia does not sound a bit rebellious to you? You might need to read up on Tatiana more...

Good point, no one should say Tatiana was boring. Actually, being more of a mystery she is someone you can debate and debate. Tatiana was an enigma in some ways, but I believe that if you understand her the right way you can interpret her. And no, I don't think Tatiana was always obedient or her mother's clone.

I think it's very wrong to say Tatiana was not at all interesting, we can only know a certain amount about each sister, there's probably far more to them all then we will ever know becasue they had such short lives. It's all very sad. What we do know about them is fascinating though, I love the fact that they were all so interested in photography!

I think Tatiana is pretty, they are all pretty in their own way for me Olga, Tatiana and Maria are prettier than Anastasia, but what Anastasia lacked in looks she made up for by far with a amazing personality  ;D! I'd like to look like any of OTMA, right now I'd say I'm a hybrid between Anastasia and Maria. Anyway it dosen't matter because looks are generally superficial and almost always in the eye of the beholder .

Unloveable? I don't think that Tatiana could be seen as unloveable. Remember, each girl had their own character and personality and each girl led the same life. They were all beautiful and remarakable girls. She seemed to be the peoples favorite and undoubtably was her mothers favorite of the four. However, we'll never know how they would've ended up because of their short lives.

I think why people may look upon her as unloveable is because of the way that she might have presented herself. They did call her the "Governess" and she did seem to be the most imperial or regal of the four. Unloveable.....no. Misread or misunderstood.... yes. But, this is just my opinion on the matter.
