Can anyone tell me if Gabriel Louis Duval actually published a book called A Princess in the Family because I have never seen it in print and I can't actually find a reference to say that it has been published.  Any details would be great! Thanks.

so sad that folks cannot believe, even at this point, that the Romanovs were all killed...why would they have left them alive to be used as a possible rallying flag for the White Russians?  believe it, whatever else the killers were, they were thorough....i know the Dowager Empress Marie refused to believed they had all been killed, but denial is a heavy foe....it was hard for me to accept the death of my own mother, now 15 yrs ago, for several months....but, esp. after all of these years have passed, i don't know how anyone can believe the Romanovs, the vast majority of them survived any of that massacre.

If she was, it was definitely not during her life. It seems it is her grandson who claims that she was the Grand Duchess, but I don't think that G. Alina claimed it herself.

From what I remember (and if I'm not wrong.), her grandson claims that she confessed to her family that she was a grand duchess but that the secret must be kept or otherwise she would be sent back to Russia. That's why I think that she never really claimed herself as Maria, but her grandson claims she was.
I tend to believe that her grandson made up the whole story. But that's my opinion.
And about the 'proofs' the only one I've heard about is a photographic comparisons. But nothing more.
