Amy,
How fortunate of you to have been able to take such a trip! I look forward to seeing your pictures, especially the ones of the Alexander Palace and other Romanov-related places.

*Sigh* I just downloaded all the photos I took on the trip and discovered that my camera is an utter piece of #$@!@$%$. Of the 200 plus photos I took, only 20 or so are salvagable.  I'm really, really, really disappointed- but at least I still have my memories, no?

On a plus note, I still have the wonderful books I purchased while we were there (Thank GOD!) Contained inside these books are some really interesting photos of the family and interiors such as more of the "coach" rooms of the Imperial train that I had never seen before. I'll be spending the next few days scanning these pictures and will share these with you all.

ARG!!!! This sucks. On the very last day before we left we discovered that we couldn't find our "good" camera that takes film (advantix)  so we were forced to take my old digital camera. We also had one other camera that takes film- oh how I wish we had taken that camera instead... :-(

A very sad Amy signing off.  :'(

Duly noted!  ;)

I'll start scanning them in today. I have to leave the house for a bit today, but I don't see why I shouldn't have at least a few scanned in within the next 12 hours or so....

In trying to keep order, I just posted 1 of 3 Imperial Train interior photos in:
Imperial Transportation--->Imperial Train ;D

Enjoy! I have to run for an appointment, but I'll try to post the rest (2 more) later this afternoon.

Hello everyone,

For those of you who didn't get this link and haven't seen my pictures and comments, they have been posted at: http://www.alexanderpalace.org/palace/helenvisit.html

Amy, I can totally relate to your frustration, on my last trip to St Pete five years ago I used a cool new camera I just got, took about 6 or 7 rolls of film, and NONE of the pictures came out!!! I don't know if it was the film or the camera itself, I was so upset that I never used that camera again, and bought a good digital one instead. Some of these pictures would have been such gems, but what can you do???  ??? I totally commiserate with you...

I know, it so sad. I was pretty devestated when I finally had a chance to look at them yesterday. :'(

Here's a link to one example. (I'd imbed the photo for future viewing, except I'll probally take this worthless photo down some time in the future.)

It's sad, blurry me on the steps leading into the last family's wing. Actually, I was super happy at the time, only now I'm sad. And pissed at my camera. I know it's crazy to be mad at an inanimate object, but seeing as the same thing happened to you, you can probally imagine what I'm going through.

Your pictures are excellent. Thank you for the link! I remember reading about your trip before I left, but didn't have the time to investigate your write-up in detail.

Amy, I was so mad at my camera that I couldn't even look at it for months and then I just threw it away! But I am over it now and I have a bunch of great new pictures from my recent trip. Besides, this gives you an excuse to come back to St Pete, as it did for me  ;D

Amy, oh so sorry to hear about your camera! How awful!! Before ive had problems with the flash on very important objects eg. behind glass, or its blurred on locations and i was so very very disappointed!
But we will all be delighted with anything you'd like to post, and those photos from the books sound amazing!!
Perhaps you could write some reminiscences though like Helenazar did?  :)

Looking forward to your scan photos!!! :)
The train ones are lovely.

Yes, Amy,
We would be pleased to make a web page for you for your recent visit, like I did for Helen and Antonio and the others. Just email me your text and selected pictures and I can do the rest.

Thank you all for the encouragement! And yes, I would love to provide information on my recent trip. Although I can't promise any that it will any time soon . :) I'm thinking it might take me a few weeks to gather my thoughts and assemble what needs to be assembled.
