Yes it was sad.  I mean she married a man who was homosexual at the age of 19.  She knew at a young age that the family was under threat. ETC.  I watched the scene where the royal train was blown up.  A six year old Olga ran out screaming "Their trying to kill us."  She was still a baby and she knew full well that her life would be in danger.
I am glad that she found true love and have her beautiful babies.  At least she died peacefully.

Wow, I honestly didn't know any of this!  Very interesting.  Of  course I knew that she was the one who knew best about her family's situation, but I didn't know that much about her personal life.  Thanks for posting.  Looks like I need to watch this documentary.

It was so sad when she (the woman reading Olga's words) said, "We don't know where my nieces and their parents are." I started to cry!!

Thanks for this link! I watched it all, though it made my computer freeze several times. It was very interesting. I had no idea Olga was in trouble for harboring Russian soldiers who didn't want to return to the Soviet Union, and that is why she moved to Canada.

I was also interested in the top secret files on Olga in this situation. Could this be why the "Zahle papers" are also still confidential?

Thankyou very much for those links, the documentary was fascinating and reminded me what a wondeful, kind person Olga was, Grand Duchess or not.

I was wondering if anyone knows where I could find a link to a photo of the large painting showing people dancing in a ballroom? I noticed that Tatiana and Olga N were in it and I have never seen it before - thanks!

The painting is titled "Ball at the Assembly Hall of the Nobility in St. Petersburg" 1915 by D. Kargovskii.

Here is a link from the AP website:

Thanks for the links bit simplistic but quite interesting and nice to some of the rare footage- almost entirely based on the Ian Vorres book i took it - without too much anaylsis.

It wasn't so much harbouring Russian Soldiers it was the fact that she entertained in occupied Denmark to the distaste of her neighbours those russians who had joined the german army (many white russian emigrees did once Hitler invaded the Soviet Union) and were stationed in the area and came to pay their respects to the Grand Duchess - at best it was the kindly gesture of a naive woman or (to some) it was collaboration.

Thank you so much for the links.

I just finished watching the documentary and it was wonderful.

Not much new information, but to see some of the places in color was great!
