I visited the Residenz in Munich yesterday. I heard that after WW II only 50m² were still covered, the rest was destroyed.
The rooms are quite empty, most of the furniture were brought to Munich from other castles, because the original ones were also destroyed. Nevertheless, there are a lot of wonderful portraits.
To sum up, the rooms look extremely artificial after the restoration.
I quite like the so-called "Allerheiligenhofkirche" in the northern (?) part of the Residenz. This church was also destroyed, but is now open to the public again. Today it isn't a church anymore, but a place for public events.
Empress Elisabeth of Austria's sisters Marie (Queen of Neaples) and Mathilde (Trani) married in the Allerheiligenhofkirche in the 19. century.
