It says that Sissi felt very alone and isolated, especially because her "entourage" was chosen by Archduchess Sophie and consisted of women asked to spy on her and report to Sophie. Sissi got fed up with that and managed to get from Franz-Josef  that she chooses one lady-in-waiting. She chose an Hungarian lady, Ida, who who prove to be a trusted friend to the end.
The other part is about her hairdresser and the special relationship that she had with her, and also the long time that it took to wash Sissi's hair (and the special recipe) and to fix it in the crown of braids that became her trademark.

[img]I'm not sure where to post this question but since it concerning Hungary I figured here would be appropriate.  Has anyone heard of the Council of Nobility.  I have heard this mentioned from a Hungarian source, but have not been able to confirm if it exists.  Does anyone here know of it?

Greetings,

I'm new on the forum and have been signed up for awhile without being active. My husband's side of the families were connected to the Austrian-Hungarian Monarchy. One of his relatives was the late Count Ottokar Czernin who was Foreign Minister from 1916-1918. His political career was ruined after the "Sixtus Affair".   I have dome extensive research about his career and have learned more about it through his book,"In the world War".  This past summer in Germany, I was able to ask different relatives about his life and heard stories and the effects of how it divided and ended the Hapsburg Monarchy.

It is very interesting the relationship between the Hapsburgs & Hungary. They had great moments in the reign of Maria Theresia and later the formation of the duel monarchy under Franz Josef and Elisabeth (Sisi). Their son Rudolf was popular and may have tried to seize the throne before Mayerling. The Archdukes & Archduchesses on the Hungarian line were also very much binding up in the sympathy for the nation.

I hope someday for a book on the Habsburgs of  the  Hungarian line. They were such interesting characters.

The answer is simple...they dont like Us(okay lot of them). I'm hungarian, so I know it. The one,who really loved us was Queen Elizabeth...this was the cause, that she gave us her yougest daughter, Maria Valeria, this ws the cause that she learned hungarian language, this was the cause that she loved to lived in hugary.

She was our quenn, if she wasnt...Hungary lost in the Habsburg sink...

I talked about the age of Sissy and the Monarchy ^^

I think Archduchess Sofie was unsure about the loyalty of Hungary in the Austrian Empire and sought to play them down in favour of the Bohemians and Czech subjects. She blocked a marrage between Emperor Franz Josef (her son) and Archduchess Elisabeth of Hungary.
