Of course I would love to eat with the entire family- NAOTMAA; however I would be kind of nervous around Alix because she would probably find something wrong with my table etiquette ...so maybe just the kids. And Felix! It would be fun to eat with Felix Yussupov!
Same here, especially Anastasia. I think I could be a match for her. As for the extended family, I think I would like to eat with Nicholas' sister Olga.
I think a small, intimate dinner with NAOTMAA would be interesting.I think it would put Alix at ease since there wouldn't be a lot of people. As far as what to serve,I think it would be very interesting so serve them some modern dishes, things they have never had before.I'd have to think about what those would be though.Oh and I wanna hear the melon story too.
When they first arrived in their TSARtorial elegance, I'd open a bottle of champagne & let it SERGE into the glasses. Then I'd have a few RUSSIAS of bacon for D'MEATri course before I GORge myself on A(few)LIX of ice cream & BATTENBERG cake. After I'd be tired to I'd just watch T.V. - 'Tsarsky & Hutch' perhaps or 'Tsars in their eyes.'Any better suggestions?
Yes that was funny!! I think I remember reading that Alix liked pasta -- or that a certain kind of pasta was one of the only things she ate when they were imprisoned. So maybe I would serve some of that, even though I'm not a big pasta person myself! But desert would be better, because I LOVE tea and they did too...and I am sure we could all decide on a cake! I bet they would like ice cream.
I understand that Alexandra was a vegetarian - so you'd need to make sure there is food she can eat available. Also you'd need to check and see if was a Fast or not (and more than half the year is some sort of fasting day), in which case you would need to serve vegan food only.
Really, Martyn, surely you are not that naive ? The melon tale is pretty well know amongst certain circles, but I am a bit surprised that it reached this group !
