Why should the story of the grand ducal family be inaccessible to those of us who are, shall we say, less than fluent in French and Luxembourgeois?
Intuitively I've always linked their awesome Europeanness, their discretion, the endearing wholesomeness and family unity which they radiate to their absence from the Anglophone gutter press. (But of course both France and Germany have their gutter tabloids.) Even though their Germanness and native German skills have been declining for a long time, they are, as a trilingual monarchy combining the two languages historically spoken by most royals still quite unique, something quite à part (apart, yes, English is just badly spelled French) from the Queen Victoria's Descendants + Glücksborgers bandwagon. They are such a breed apart that they require their own languages, I'd venture to say!
