Yep, you are right Annie.

Bebe does look very cute and pretty. I can imagine how much fun the grandma's had with her.

Especially Zenaida, who always wanted a girl so bad and put girl clothes on Felix she was so disappointed! ;)

 :)

I would like to see a photo of Tatiana Sfiris.

We know very little about herself.

Can someone tell me more?

Thank you!

Please forgive my ignorance, but how do you pronounce Irina's daughter's name?  Is it just "beeb?"  Is it a French name?  I've seen the same name only once:  Bebe Neuwirth the actress who played Lillith on Cheers.  If she was born in Russia in 1915 (and before the Revolution), it seems odd that they would give her such a foreign name.  The Romanovs normally stuck with Russian names except in cases where they married outside the country.

Their daughter was named Irina Felixovna, but "Bebe" which is French for 'Baby' was her nickname.

When I toured the Yussupov Palace in July 2005, we were shown a large portrait of Xenia Sfiris.  It is in the room with the two beautiful stained glass windows.  We were told that Xenia, the granddaughter of Felix and Irina, now has a granddaughter, presumably Marilia, and that she is the latest in the Yussopov line.  I found it interesting that they had displayed this modern painting, which, by the way, is quite lovely.

isn't it interesting that the pattern of the family is to have an only child, and that to be a daughter. It is interesting as are patterns in families like that. The pattern Grand Duchess Irina's descendents followed fascinated me  from the  first. It reminded me of another pattern in a family but one compltely unrelated to the Romanovs. It has to do with Laura Ingalls Wilder. Laura's mother had a son that died at nine months, Laura had a son that died at twelve days, and Laura's daugter Rose had a son who died shortly after birth. In each case, it was the only son they ever had.  :)

It's intresting to see that in pictures with her father, Bebe is always relaxed and smiling but seems rather uncomfortable when pictured with her mother.

Yes I noticed that about Laura too, strange.

I was wondering if the reason the Yussoupovs had one child was because of the 'curse' that every heir in a generation would die young but one? Felix had 2 brothers die as babies, then his brother died in a duel. His mother's sister died young and a baby brother too. So maybe since they were kind of superstitious about the mystical, they thought if they had more than one it would die? Just a thought...

But I did hear there are now TWO new Yussoupov baby girls, one born in 2004 and a second in 2006!

yes Felix was afraid of the lagend and dicided to have only one child - Bebe. And Bebe did the same, Xenia too. But it's true that Tatiana has 2 daughters. Hope they will live a long and happy life.
