An old Elisabeth with Pince Albert, pss Paola, King Badouin and Queen Fabiola.

Might be nice to add some additional info Katenka,what was the occasion and why,
that sort of thing so that a pic indeed becomes part of a history,instead of another
page in albums we´ve all seen by now.... .

My guess is that it was taken during the Queen Elisabeth Concours of Music,Brussels 1964.

Adorable couple. Is also discernible from the pictures that were in love. I read that they met for the first time at a family funeral. Can anyone tell me where and when? Thanks

I read he met her at Sophie Charlotte, duchesse D´Alencon´s funeral. That makes sense cause Albert Sister Henriette was married with Sophie´ s son, Emmanuel, Duke of Vendome ;-D

What took him so long to propose? He must have been so shy.

I think, Elisabeth was a woman, who knows, what she wants! She was very intelligent und was to her husband a woman and partner, not only a pendant as other queens in this time! Right, a wonderful looking woman like Queen Marie Romania, she wasn`t, but I really love photos of Queen Elisabeth. Quickly you can get the impression from the photos, that Elisabeth loves fashion. In every period, she wears the fashion of the time, specially her dresses in "Art Deco" are wonderful.
Her sister, the Crownprincess Marie GAbrielle, was a better looking woman, but in Elisabeths eyes, there was energy and power, different to the sad view of Marie Gabrielle!

I don't think she photographed as lovely as she is really was. In person she was said to be quite striking. But still, there are some really nice pictures of her.
