Two interior pictures of the Amsterdam Royal Palace

Thijs, the picture on top is what is called the Throne room, and you've posted a picture as how it was at the end of the 19th century.Today this room is used as the venue where the RF and their guests(State Visits) have the photo-session before the Banquets. It has been named the Throne -room since the days of Louis-Napoleon and Hortense,200 years ago this year. The Royal Palace at the Dam Square to this day has the largest collection of Empire furniture outside France, thanks to Louis. His Queen,Hortense, loathed this Palace,as she loathed Holland as it was generally called,to her it was damp and smelly,as the canals were still open at that time surrounding the Palace. The dutch thought the only thing "smelly" was her,she only stayed a few months, then left,no love lost between the dutch and her,nor between Louis and her, forced marriage, never worked,Louis-Napoleon did become a loved and respected Monarch. To the dutch, his brother thought otherwise...........
