Palaces of Tunisia
« on: March 11, 2006, 07:18:04 AM »
hi,

Okay, first things first, I  really had no clue where to put my questions, so I put under French royalty, as Tunisia was around 1900 part of France. And now the question:

Does some one know where I can find pictures and information about the royal palaces of the beys of Tunisia? I am especially interested in Mohameddia, near Oudna, once build by Ahmed bey, I believe it was to rival Versailles and now it is in ruins.

thx in advance,

ipflo

Hi ipflo, great photos and postcards of a bygone age, the french colonials built some beautiful architecture in Tunisia and Algeria, are the tunisian palaces maintained by the government. ;)

Well they are at least owned now by the Tunesian government, maintained I do not know, as I have never been there. Assume at least the Bardo should be, as it one of their most pretstigious museums today.

To be honest I also do not have a clue, how to do that. The photo's here on this website, are links from other websites, made to pictures with the image tag icon. Maybe there is a website, where one can place images on the net, which one can link to site.

Sorry, I would like to help.
