That's a lovely family pic.  :)

What a wonderful outfit! Princess Claire is actually quite a pretty woman, IMO.  :D

A question for anyone - is military service obligatory in Belgium for a certain amount of years? Do most royal princes spend time in the army? Thanks.

No, conscription has been abolished in Belgium - probably Amedeo enjoys that sort of thing, the scallywag!

Great pics Tatia.  :)

Both Prince Filip and Prince Laurent were in the military.Filip had a full training, and also had an Airforce training
(ever since he has his own red 'chopper,he's a licensed pilot.Prince Laurent was in the Navy.

Here in the Netherlands of the Queens sons only Alexander served,in the Navy,(he's a licensed pilot as well),
Friso didn't have to,nor was he interested I think, and Constantijn had bad eyesight or something like that,
not that he was bothered.....

Prince Maurits served first in the Royal Marines and later switched to the Navy. His brother
Prince Pieter-Christiaan is in the Royal Constabulary Forces with the rank of Major.

No one is "drafted" here as that was abolished years ago.

And I believe Princess Astrid herself has a connection with the Army.

Does anyone else think it slightly unusual that she was a rather advanced 41 when Laeticia was born, and Amedeo was already 17 years old?

Not really.  My mom was 35 when she had my brother and I was already 13, so I've been in a similar situation with my family.  It's not the way things are commonly done when it comes to having kids, but I wouldn't call it unusual either. :)
