Princess Lea looked very elegant in mourning...but of course sad.

I have no respect for this woman whom I always regarded as an adventuress. Even if it seems that she really loved Leopold III, I think she was more attracted by the King as the man. I know she would die of envy to be Queen. And I feel petty and unworthy of her part she has sold some gems, like a Tiara of Queen Elizabeth of Belgium, she would have bequeathed to her death at the crown. King Baudouin had the courtesy to never claim anything, elegance and the decency of a true prince ... That was not the case of Liliane.

Ok, she was strange, but why did the people jugded Leopold for marry her? I mean it is sad that everyone wants that the widow/widower has to be live in sorrow forever.

Certainly, but I think that the Belgian people was not ready to accept that Leopold remarried so quickly, especially in wartime. Perhaps this marriage with Liliane would it have been better received if it had occurred after the total victory of the allies.

This was one of the biggest blunder of Leopold III. However, I think that this King has been especially popular thanks to Astrid. Some aspects of his personality were not endearing as his selfishness also brought him closer to his mother Queen Elizabeth, who was a woman authoritarian and egocentric, and I do not much either.

Yes, you are right. In my opinion Karl Theodor was the better "King" for a time. Leopold was a little bit birdbrained.

Oh yes, Charles would have done much better than King Leopold. It is curious that the son who physically resembled his mother more and shared some of her fantasy was not the most loved. Elizabeth preferred Leopold still in effect, striving to end up fueling the rivalry and jealousy between the two brothers.

Leopold had the Wittelsbach good looks (like his Aunt Marie Gabrielle), but without the charm. Astrid helped him and ensured the popularity of the crown. Liliane was not in her league. She was selfish and create trouble for the family.

It was not nice to see Lilianne wearing Queen Astrid's jewels. But it seems her stepchildren liked her much am I right? If so then Lilianne had a better relationship with her stepchildren than with her own ones.

I think Leopold looked much like his father Albert, grandfather Phillippe and great grandmother Louise. All were blonde and bright blue eyes.

I think any good relationship vanished once the late King married. Queen Fabiola could hardly stand her.

Not really...I don't think Liliane was that kind of person. Her heritage was expensive jewelry, designer clothes and monogram suitcases. She had problems with her own children !
