Tatia, no one's being critical - let's keep this friendly.

Well it doesn't matter what the colour is, as long as she's doing her job well, and she is :).

But about 'Blauw Bloed', I think they do check the facts, and although the host is pretty boring, I like the program (they also show historic royal footage, images etc.). If you haven't seen it before, you should watch it (het wordt de week erna ook nog herhaald, mocht je het niet kunnen zien door het voetbal op dezelfde zaterdagavond ;))

You're right Tatia, the host of "Blauw Bloed" is a bore. Joepie vanavond is hij er weer :P I do like the historical footage they show from time to time, particularly about Queen Wilhelmina. Also the interviews with people who have special memory meeting the queen or other members of the royal family. I must say it sometimes amazes me how far people go in their adoration. Like that man whose always there to present the queen some sweets-een zak drop-. Je weet denk ik wel wie ik bedoel, hij is nogal een bekende Orange fan, ging de showbizz in-maakte een paar cdtjes- of was het de politiek- nou ja soms ook een pot nat.

There are people who follow every step the queen or other members take. I once read about a woman who had a special room- decorated in orange, with albums full of photo's and letters she wrote, cupboards filled with mugs, spoons etc, she traveled the whole country to catch a glimpse of our queen. I know we sometimes do pretty much the same here on this board as it comes to adoration, although most has to do with the past. Would you go this far as some people do, to me it sounds a bit as an obsession.
Interesting to know what drives them. At the end of the day royals are just the same as we are.

Pers: I loved to read your Dutch post :) Je Nederlands is heel goed, leuk dat je zo geïnteresseerd bent. Your Dutch is quite good, are you from South-Africa, because of you're spelling and style?

Thanks Lucien. As to the speaking Dutch, I don't mind it from time to time - but if you have something to share, please share it with everyone. thanks! Or should I say 'go raibh maith agat'!  ;D ;D

Prince_Lieven; I'm guilty too, a sentence once in a while in our own language is just for fun but not meant to expel anyone. Mea culpa.
I completly agree with "go raibh maith agat" whatever it means :)  Hope I didn't put a spell on myself.
And yes the helmet is defenitely brown ;)

I believe that man you were mentioning is now doing something with Emile Ratelband :-/ ;D They were on tv last week or something.
Wow, a room full of Oranje-things :o That is really to much, I mean, I like our royal house but I can't believe why anyone would to that. Maar ja, ieder z'n hobby hè.

Talking about dusting ,the Gouden Koets(Golden State Carriage)is being "dusted off"as in less then two weeks time it will be Prinsjesdag again. The official opening of Parliament by Her Majesty The Queen adressing the joint chambers of parliament at the Hall of Knights,The Hague.

Thank god some traditions and ceremony have survived and is on full display on that day,the third tuesday of september.HM will deliver the Troonrede (Speech from the Throne)disclosing the governments plans for the coming year.(but most of the time we dutch are not all that interested in hearing about new cuts here there and everywhere as our purses find out soon enough...),so I focuss on all the Pump&Circumstance.
Link to rehearsing at the Royal Stables:

HM will drive from Her "office",Noordeinde Palace to the Hall of Knights in the Gouden Koets, accompanied by TTRRHH The Prince of Orange and Princess Máxima.

The first carriage contains the Grandmistress of the Court,Mrs.van Loon-Labouchere and the Head of the Military House of the Court, followed by the Gala Glas Berliner with HRH Princess Margriet and her husband as well as TTRRHH Prince Constantijn and Princess Laurentien.

Upon return to Noordeinde Palace,HM and other members of the Royal Family appear on the balcony of the Palace to greet the crowds.Thousands and thousands of citizens of The Hague and from elsewhere in the country line the streets and squares for this great tradition and love for the RF.
