I've got a question, I have read 'TTRRHH' several times on this board, but what does it mean? I think 'Their Royal Highnesses', but then why are the double letters? ???

Referring to both Tatia, whenever they attend functions together. It is courtesy,as well as referring to both their status. When solo,it's HRH.

Only 2 days now until Prinsjesdag, but of course, as always :-[, the contents of the Troonrede were already 'leaked' to the news reporters last week...

Yes,annoying isn't it? >:(
Some start-ups trying to earn an extra buck maybe, nothing goes for nothing in these circles I'm afraid,as soon as the Troonrede reaches the parties, the media offers money for the scope, >:( >:(!.I want an investigation,I agree with Mr.Weisglass,Chair of the Commons.

I don't care if the message is turning good or bad for the next year,It is just not done, and what's more,I find it an embarrasment for HM.But don't worry, she will get back at that,as several times a year members of Parliament go to Noordeinde Palace for an audience with HM.She's known to say very frank and direct what she thinks, trust me,her looks makes the guilty ones blush wishing there was a hole in the floor.HM is "famous"for giving "the look",when deserved.

Nonetheless I'm looking forward to Prinsjesdag, one of the few official events with all the trimmings of the Monarchy.
A tradition to cherish.Except for the usually depressing message the last years.

This year's Troonrede is said to be more positive, so let's wait and see (well, hear) if that's really true.

Hmm, "the look", I would love to see that ;D...

PS if you look closely on the pictures I posted in 'Juliana's grandchildren'-thread, you can see mr. Weisglas too ;)

I must admit that I didn't see much of it :-[ only a few minutes on the news, but I thought the Troonrede was good.
(But some of the hats were really bad... like the car tire-hat and the Robin Hood hat :-/)

More Dutch Royal news:
Today the newspaper 'Telegraaf' had a little article on the front page, with photos of the two illegitimate daughters of Prince Bernhard, Alicia and Alexia, and they also will be in the magazine 'Quote' soon.

Tatia, yes I know, very annoying.German count Rigo von Plauens(never heard of that twits family, nor am I interested) attempt to make a fast buck.He used to be a "friend" of Prince Bernhard. We all know Bernhard had a "bit of a unlucky hand" for picking friends and this proleet is one of them.Only one word for him,it starts with an A and ends with a hole.

As far as I'm concerned,I had more then enough after last years revelations the day after the funeral concerning the whole story.Ofcourse the "girls"can't help it,and I don't think they like this sickening renewed attention,do you?

Tatia,Anna what do you think about yesterday?

What did I think about Prinjesdag?

Besides the golden carriage, the dresses and hats in different shapes ( which I loved to watch) the "budget speech" of Queen Beatrix was the most important. How much are we going to suffer next year ;)

First the length of the speech and the more understandable lanquage for everyone to follow was a lot better, so less people drifted away or fell a sleep. I think it must have been a revelation to the Queen too.
Well, last year we had a doom scenario for next year the predictions are quite optimistic, growing economy, more employent also a relief to hear more money for child day care. Tho the common people have to face a lot of changes. They say its for the better - like the changes in health care -on the long run, we'll just have to see. I'm not jumping from happiness but hope for the better.

Back to royalty- I was wondering about the costs of all these dresses and hats, it must have been enormous. And all this for only a few hours. Tradition.

I thought it was all in understandeble language as well, but then today I saw on NOS teletext that still most had a hard time to follow all, surprised me.Don't think it was a real revelation to HM,remember, last year after the speech while in the Koninginnekamer at the Ridderzaal, she said she found the (then) speech boring,so I have an inkling she pushed for a more acceptable lingo.I posted a link to the english version two posts above yours.

About the dresses,we've all seen what (can) happen(s) to old ones,I'm sure they all use 'm again, during State Visits or other formal occasions, some return in view 5 or 6 times, just add a feather here and some lace there and voila.Did you know a lot of the really older stuff ends up with the NOB?

And the hats,it's turning into the dutch version of Royal Ascot at that point, love it.

I have finally read the whole Troonrede, and it was completely understandable for me, so I think it's strange too that there are so many people saying that it's hard to understand :-/

Well, speaking of the Silver Jubilee, I received a little package last friday, with the Jubilee-logo and my name on it.
I didn't order anything, so I was thinking 'what could it be'. And when I opened it, I saw a little book and a letter, which said that all Dutch kids who are turning 18 during this jubilee, receive this book for free (in book stores it's € 5,-). So that was a nice surprise! :D
(The book is about the history of the Kingdom of the Netherlands)

I didn't know it, but here in this link it says that it was 'released' (if that's the word) on the 19th of september, but the letter was dated on my birthday (which is almost two months ago), so I thought that the postage had been delayed.

(I suppose you didn't get one... haha :P)
