TM King Filip & Queen Mathilde of the Belgians

How old is Princess Elisabeth now? I know she's in succession after her father, Crown Prince Phillipe of Belgium. Will she be the first-Belgian born queen? I mean, not just the woman who marries the crown prince, but a girl born to the male heir.

I beleive Princess Elisabeth is 2 years old or thereabouts. When her father becomes King of the Beligians, her mother, Duchess Mathilde of Brabant, will be the first Belgian born queen consort in the country's history. When Elisabeth ascends the throne (God willing) she will be the first queen regnant of Belgium ever, so thus obviously the first Belgian one.

Thereabouts means 2 years older? ::) She was born on 25 october 2001, so she'll soon be 4 years old.
Her little brother Gabriel is 2 years old (b. 20 august 2003). (And around october Elisabeth and Gabriel will have a little brother or sister)

Oops! Sorry Tatia! I was mistaking Elisabeth's birth year for that of her brother (who's birthday is five days before mine!  :)).

They are such pretty children - so very blond.

Little Princess Elisabeth and Prince Gabriel will get a baby brother/sister today as CrownPrincess Mathilde was atmitted to hospital this morning! :)

A baby brother for Princess Elisabeth and Prince Gabriel,this afternoon at 13.06PM HRH CrownPrincess Mathilde gave birth to  HRH Prince Emmanuel Leopold Guillaume Francois Marie,4th in line to the Throne.Mother and son(50 cm,3.9 kilo) are doing very well. :) :) :-*

So I guess they'll call him 'Emmanuel'? It fits very well with his siblings' names, especially Gabriel. :) Although both boys don't have common royal names, I do like the combination Elisabeth, Gabriel and Emmanuel :D.

(So this is #2 in this 'royal baby boom'-period, I wonder who'll be next ;D)

On the site of the Belgian Royal Family I read that Countess Elisabeth d’Udekem d’Acoz (Mathilde's sister, I suppose ???) will be Emmanuel's godmother, and his godfather will be HRH Prince Guillaume of Luxemburg (GD Henri's son).

Hi Tatia,yes,Countess Elisabeth is Princess Mathilde's youngest sister and will be the childs godmother,
and HRH the Heriditary GrandDuke Guillaume the godfather.

The names might seem a bit "biblical",don't you think?But then,in the "Italian branch" of the family
there's a Victor-Emanuel(Queen Marie-José's son)and his son is named Emmanuel-Filiberto.

Queen Paola descends from a Roman Princely family so maybe the boy is named after one of that side.
Before the end of the week CrownPrince Filip will tell more about the name giving,the why and whom.

Great,(!!!)...but I can assure you I had nothing to do with it..... ;)it's not exactly a "your wish is my command" kind of thing,but within two weeks we''ll hear about CrownPrincess Mary of Denmark,quickly followed by Princess Letizia in november,december:Princess Mette-Marit and just to top the royal baby boom off,Princess Claire spouse of Prince Laurent of Belgium is expecting twins in january. :)

No,you're right,it is rather unusual,at least long ago.In the Benelux there's Princess Margarita and Prince Jaime de Bourbon Parma,(about 30 years ago)son and daughter of HRH Princess Irene of the Netherlands,and in Luxemburg there are Princess Margaretha of Liechtenstein,néé of Luxembourg) and Prince Jean,(about 40 years ago)the GrandDukes siblings.

Yes,Princess Claire is doing allright again,thank god,yesterday she was present at the reception of Russian President Wladimir Putin in Brussels,due to the opening of the Europalia Russia Festival.She looked absolutely great.

According to this news account the son of Crown Prince Philippe and Princess Mathilde has been named Emmanuel Leopold Guillaume François Marie. He is fourth in line to the throne behind his sister Princess Elisabeth, aged almost 4,  and brother Prince Gabriel, aged 2.

The two older children certainly are cute. They look quite a bit like their father.
