So how do you explain Charles's inaction when it came to saving her life?

I read that two English men called her: 'Hoer', and all of that words, you know? And Jeanne said: 'About one hour you both will be dead.'
Jeanne was right, one hour later the two men drowned in a river.

Quit interesting!  ;)

OK Umigon. I think that it didn't even cross his mind to save her. She wasn't a noble woman, so I believe he wouldn't have given any credence to paying any ransome if it was asked for. Harsh, but true.

I agree with Kim. Jeanne was useful to him, but by the time she was captured, she was liability he didn't want to be associated with.

Absolutely true Kim, I think he wouldn't have saved her had she been his own daughter (I would have said if she had been his mother, but we know they loved very little each other!)

How old was Jeanne when she was burned? Anyone know?

Sorry, Robby! I am incredibly short-sighted and I can't find my glasses (or my contacts, stupid things!)  :-[

It's Ok Prince_Lieven.

The brothers of Jeanne thought that Jeanne din't burned at the stake, but another woman whom who was believed to be Jeanne, years later there appears many 'Jeanne's', but i believe she was just burned at that horrible stake as a Witch, it makes me mad  >:(.

Phew - got my contacts at last.

Anywho, I agree with you, Robby. They couldn't execute her as a soldier so they burned her as a witch - barbaric.

Makes you mad or not, Robby, the sad thing is that poor Jeanne was indeed burnt... But she died with much dignity, as it was awaited from her.

It was her destiny and she probably knew she would end up that way...

Yes, I beleive the year before she died she said something like 'I will not last until next April' or something, and sure enough she was right.  :o

Fascinating isn't how history repeats itself so many times. There are so many"pretenders" for these famous, and often, very tragic personalities from history.

Exactly, like Louis XVII, or Grand Duchess Anastasia, or the Princes in the Tower, the list goes on . . .
