digs at the spot where the truck first broke down

I have read that archaology digs have been combing the area around the four brothers mine shafts and pigs meadow for years. All with no luck.
But, does anyone know if digs have occured around the spot where the truck first broke down (as identified in "The Last Tsar" ), being the most likely spot where (and, if of course) two bodies could have been removed?

As far as I know, no. But it might answer alot of questions. And, after a decade of finding nothing, it wouldn't hurt to look in another spot. Does anyone know if any teams still go to Ekaterinburg to look for the 2 missing bodies? Perhaps we could petition them to try.

In fact, yes-digs have taken place in the area surrounding the Koptyaki grave for a decade-the last substantial one in 1998.  No human remains have been found.

I don't think he ment by the grave itself. If I'm recalling correctly, in "The Last Tsar" Radzinsky's " guest " says something like "this could only have happened in one place" refering two where 2 bodies  being removed could have occured. It was before arrival at the four brothers mine shaft.
"Grading 184" or "Crossing 184."?
I was under the impression that all digs had taken place at the four brother's mine, as well as "pig's meadow."

Is this what you meant?

Penny, with regard to certain comments stated in your post of July 12 (I believe) 2004:
I would like to comment that your date that Avdonin and Ryabov found the remains is incorrect.  It was actually in the late 1970's that they discovered the remains.  I believe it was 1989 that the information became public when Ryabov publicized it.  Also, General Rozanov was Peter's GREAT grandfather.  My husband, Peter's continued search was done in coordination with Avdonin AND Sergey Nikitin, as well as archeologists and other scientists.  Your comment about Avdonin being "forced to recant his claim" is also incorrect....as is your comment about Sergey Nikitin -- who never "claimed to have discovered the remains he unwaveringly identified as Grand Duchess Marie and Alexei. "  The following statement is also not true -- "Avdonin himself denounced this claim, acknowledging that Nikitin had made up the whole thing".  Before writing such things, I suggest you double check your facts with Peter before posting them.

Yes, that's true, I remember reading that the initial discovery of the remains was in 1979, then the remains were reburied and officially opened again in 1989...
