Their daughter Bonne Margaret married the Konrad, son of Leopold of Bavaria & Gisela of Austria. Their son Eugen (5th Duke) married Princess Lucia of Bourbon-Sicily. Ferdinand (3rd Duke) and Philibert (4th Duke) married but were childless. Adalbert would've been 5th Duke but he predeceased his brothers. He was unmarried and childless. Eugen (the youngest son) only had a daughter. He died in 1996--does the title still exist?

Isabella was nicknamed Bela by her family. She was a goddaughter of her namesake, Queen Isabella II of Spain, who was very fond of her.

She and her husband Tommaso were very close to the Bavarian and Spanish royal families. Queen Isabella 's daughter Infanta Eulalia spent a great deal of time with them during her trips in Italy. They were also invited to the wedding of King Alfonso XIII of Spain and Victoria Eugenia of Battenberg in 1906.

Isabella was very fond of her native Bavaria and frequently visited Munich. She and her husband used to spend a lot of time in their residence of Aglié, which reminded her of Nymphenburg Palace, where she was born. She was old-fashioned and it was hard for her to accept the "infernal" machines like the automobile, so she preferred to travel by carriage.

Infanta Paz tells more details about Isabella in her memoirs.

Some time ago, I found a photo.
The describiton was:
Elisabeth of Genova, nee Princess of Saxonia
Mother of the Italian Queen Margherita!

I`m not sure, but I don`t believe that the woman on the carte de visite is the beautiful looking Duchess Elisabeth!
What do you think?

Perhaps because of the imperfect quality of the photo, but I think that I have to agree with you...I'm not sure that she is Elisabeth of Saxony Duchess of Genova...although I must admit that the physiognomy of the face is very similar... :-\

I've only seen photos of Elisabeth as an old woman. Does anybody have pictures of Elisabeth as a younger woman? She was born in 1830, so there must be at least pictures of her aged 30. I would love to see them. Thanks.

The woman slightly resembles Duchess of Genoa, but she is not the Duchess.

I also would  love to see more pictures of Elisabeth. Her daughter Margaretha was really lovely when young but the few pictures of Elisabeth that I saw so far  don't seem to capture all her beauty if she was indeed so beautiful as Cavour described her as "the most superb beauty of the north".
She became widow with 25 and she had proposals from the King of Sardinia and from Prince Jerome Bonaparte but in the end she married "only" to one of her husband’s  officers, Major Rapallo. Any pictures of her second husband?

I can't imagine that Elisabeth was a classical beauty. But it looks like she was more beautiful than her sisters. Of course, we only have photos of Sophie and Sidonie. But they were rather plain and looked meaningless. I also can't see a great resemblance between Elisabeth and these younger sisters except the shape of her face.

The Duke and the Duchess of Genoa had 6 children:
- Ferdinando (1884-1963)
- Filiberto (1895-1990)
- Bona Margherita (1896-1971)
- Adalberto (1898-1982)
- Maria Adelaide (1904-1979)
- Eugenio (1906-1996)

Are there any more pictures of them as children?
