Ferdinando with his brother Eugenio Duke of Ancona, the Royal Princess Maria and other guests in San Rossore. Savoia family liked very much San Rossore estate, the King and the Queen used to spend their time fishing, they often invited Savoia-Aosta and Genoa and other Relatives of them. There was a little herd of "Arabian camel" (dromedary) and they liked to ride them.

Filiberto was considered a very brave soldier. He behaved very well during the First world war, he fought with the Alpini regiment even if he was captain of the 1° Nizza Cavalleria (the most important regiment of cavalry). He wanted to fight as an infantryman (becouse Alpini regiment is an infantry regiment) during the terrible assaults again austrian machine-gun. He also fought during the Etiopia was in 1936 and during the Second world war.
