Adalberto lived in Milano. He used to stay in the Royal Palace, the former Palace of the austrian viceroy, becouse the seat of his Regiment was Milano. Also the Duke of Bergamo fought during the Abissinian war with his brother the Duke of Pistoia.

After 1947, Adalberto came back to Italy, he decided to live in Turin, the city where Savoia-Genova had always lived. The Palace of his Family, Palazzo Chiablese, was taken by Italian State and there was a long judicial controversy. So he resided in the Jolly Ligure Hotel in Carlo Felice square.

Everybody liked Adalberto for his good manners and simplicity, he used to listen every opinion before speaking. He was also known becouse he liked to dress spats.

Adalberto died in 1982, then he was buried in Superga where there is the Royal crypt. All the Savoia-Genova are buried here except for Eugenio Duke of Ancona.

ELISABETTA di Sassonia, 1° Duchess of Genova

Ferdinando 1° Duke of Genova married at Dresden the 22 of April 1850, Duchess Elisabetta. She was born at Dresden the 4 of February 1830, she was daughter of Johann Nepomuck I, King of Saxony. She was considered very beautiful, she had blue eyes and blonde hair. Minister Cavour said she was the most superb beauty of North Europe.

After the death of her husband Elisabetta wanted to marry King Vittorio Emanuele II (his wife died in 1855 too), her brother-in-law. He was widow, but he dosen't want to marry her. So she married at Aglié in the October 1856 during the night, Niccolo, an obscure military.

The King was very angry and decided to exile the Duchess and her new husband. Only in 1857 she could return in Piemonte, also becouse the Tsarina Alexandra Fedorewna and Johann Nepomuck during their official visits in Turin asked the king to forgive Elisabetta. So Vittorio Emanuele II created Niccolo Marchese of Rapallo.

Elisabetta handles with him like he was a servant, he was forced to live the room when the king or other guests were invited by the Duchess. Nobody understood why she married him. Maybe it was a spite.  
Elisabetta treated him very bad, he has lost everything after the marriage: his military position, the respect of the poeple.
