It's a very nice painting indeed! Thank you for posting it here! I had never seen it before! Any idea, where to find it a bit bigger? It's fascinating and wonderfully made, and she reminds me of her mother there....! Is it originally in colour? And where did you find it?

I think that this painting is in de Laszlo's archive in the file''missing paintings'' or something like that,so I think that the original must be in colour...Btw,I have never seen ANY portrait or painting of Elisabeth in colour...If anyone has, would be great to see it!

There's one in Das Familienalbum von Kaiser Franz Joseph und Elisabeth. Unfortunately I can't post it, because I'm on the wrong computer at the moment.

Ohhhhhhhhhh...I hate your "wrong computer", MarieCharlotte ;)
I always wondered who were the people to whom little Erzsi was fondly attatched. I mean...she had not a close and tender relationship with her mother. I don´t know if her paternal aunts were fond of Erzsi, but I always have supposed that the two were so busy raising their own children...

Marie Valerie refered about her niece Erzsi several times in her diary. She didn't consider Stephanie for good mother. According notes in her diary, I suppose that Marie Valerie had quite friendly and positive relationship to Erzsi. At least during Erzsi's childhood. She was also bridesmaid on Valerie's wedding.
And her older sister Gisele who lived in Munich was propably too far for making any close relationship to her little niece.

Nice color picture crazy_wing :).
