Well, yes. I think that if he had been well, she might have been in more danger. But at the same time, he wasn't and he basically needed her, as she was a good wife for his old age. So, he could not part with her politics or no. So that is one case where the personal truimphed over politics, at least in my opinion. But, there maybe political points that I don't consider. I must admit I look at the more human factors of history. It is true that religion in the 16th century was quite political, and divisive.

Yes, that first portrait used to be widely identified as Lady Jane Grey.

Yes, the first portrait was identified as Jane Grey by Sir Roy Strong of the Portrait Gallery.
On further examination of the jewellry, it is now thought that she is, in fact Katherine Parr.

An often forgotten fact about Katherine Parr is that she was a highly sensuous, attractive woman - one author (I can't remember exactly who, possibly Linda Porter) refers to her as the most attractive of Henry's wives by modern standards, and I'm inclined to agree. She spent vast amounts on clothes and perfumes and obviously liked to look queenly. I find her the most human of Henry's wives, as well as perhaps the most likeable.

Are there any descriptions of Katherine Parr from contemporaries? I have always thought her more attractive than the others but given so much less credit than Anne Boleyn because of AB's charm and wit!

There is a lock of her hair at Sudeley Castle. It is a beautiful shade of red/gold...I guess what we would call dark strawberry blonde, a very pretty colour.
