Hello  :)

The marriage to Wilhelmine was a bit different because she wasn't a princess, is there any story behind it?

I found this photograph in "Die Frauen der Habsburger" by H. Andics. It shows Helene on her wedding day.
Ich aber breite trauernd aus
die weiten weissen Schwingen,
Und kehr' ins Feenreich nach Haus -
Nichts soll mich wieder bringen.

There are different versions of that book. In my hardcover version the author writes: "Helene as bride of Maximilian of Thurn und Taxis."

die weiten weissen Schwingen,
Und kehr' ins Feenreich nach Haus -
Nichts soll mich wieder bringen.

The dress is a typical example of medieval costumes of the Historicism. Medieval motifs & forms were combined with corset and crinoline. This special belt served almost as sign of 'Medievality' on stages & fancy dress balls.
And also wedding dresses looked different in the 19th century. Low-necked and richly decorated dresses like this were only accepted for evenings and (fancy dress) balls.
It's deceptive, that dresses with the silhouette of evening dresses from the 1850s-1860s are very popular as wedding dresses today.

This pic of Helene I have always found strange. Her head looks somewhat out of proportion compared to the rest of her body. Could it be a photomontage ?

Eric, you don't have the famous Sisis Familienalbum by Werner Bokelberg?  :o

@ Marie Valérie:
I've already asked you this question in the thread about Marie José and Marie Therese: Where on sisi-online.com can I find these pics of Elisabeth's siblings? I found pics of Elisabeth, FJ and their children, but nothing else ... Please help me ...  :'(

I don't have them from the website, I'm a member of the Dutch Sisi Club and that's where I get the pics from.  The Host of both is the same, that's why the piccies are marked.  :D
