Favourite Food
« on: September 22, 2005, 05:08:41 PM »
Okay, so we have favourite music and books, which are nourishment for the soul, now we need some nourishment for the body.  What does everyone like to eat?
I'll go first.

CHOCOLATE
dim sum
French Canadian tourtière (meat pie)
pasta tossed with crisp bacon, caramelized onions, sautéed asparagus, and freshly grated parmesan cheese
Italian style wedding soup
gooey cheeseburger from the best hamburger stand in the city - VJ's
coq au vin
chocolate pavlova
hot sausage and potato salad
butter tarts
Icelandic vinaterta

Again, I'll stop at 11.  I don't know why I can't just shut off at 10 like a normal person...

It is one of your little quirks that makes us love you, emeraldeyes.  ;D

Hmm . . . I am a VERY finicky eater, and generally get told I don't eat enough.  :o I'm wasting away! Yeah right!  ;D

I never eat anything even remotely spicy, but I love poultry, like chicken and turkey, and lots of red meat like roast beef and sausages . . . umm, spaghetti bolognese I like too.

And now for the nice part:
-apple pie - I LOVE it <drools>
-Choclate, of any kind, shape or description
-Crisps (potato chips to the yanks  ;))
-Pancakes . . . drool . . .

Knephla soup.... it's of German descent and very common in North Dakota, though I'd never heard of it before I moved here.... and I lived next door in Montana. Anyway, knephla is basically "dumplings" and it goes in a soup that's similar to chicken soup, minus the chicken (meaning with carrots, onion, celery & potatoes). Some people make creamy knephla soup when they add a little cream or milk to the broth. Either way, it's very good and all the little German-Russian grandmothers claim to have the best. It's the perfect comfort food for a freezing winter day.

It is. It really is. My "nana", our Russian naughbor who took care of me as a toddler while my mom worked, used to make it. She never made it creamy but it was alway amazing...

:o We have a vegetarian on our hands!!  ;D Just kidding Laura. Any reason you don't eat meat - just a preference, or a point of principal?
