Early in the 1990s I saw a documentary film which was called in my language something like The dreams of the White duchesses. It was a collection of (for me) rare film pieces as well as those often seen public ones, and photographes, then new (the archives were just opened after Soviet collapsed). It was like a silent film, the pictures of those young girls were accompanied by just some strange but suitable (electronic?) music made especially for it.
I remember the film as a really esthetic experience. The last days of the forever disappearing black and white world without the coldness, loneliness and emptyness of the modernity...
