Queens of Bohemia
« on: September 25, 2005, 07:39:47 PM »
As far as I know, the Holy Roman empresses (and later Austrian empresses) were also queens of Bohemia. And Elizabeth Stuart, the winter queen, was also queen of Bohemia.

For Elizabeth Stuart info, see the Stuart board. As for the Holy Roman Empresses, they were indeed Queens of Bohemia, but before Bohemia was united with the Habsburg monarchy it has its own rulers . . . only I know nothing about them.  :-/

Greenowl is shocked, stunned and falling off her perch. Since when has Bohemia been a part of the Balkans? Surely this thread should be moved to somewhere else? Perhaps to the Habsburg thread, as the Czech lands were a part of the Habsburg Empire for many centuries? It is no wonder there are so few posts, as nobody would ever think of looking for a Czech/Bohemian thread under the heading of Balkan Royal Families. I discovered it quite by chance. Dear moderators, what do you think?

I absolutely agree with Greenowl. I don´t think that Prag is the Balkan city:-)
It´s hard for me, to see Bohemia under Habsburg again :-), but certainly better as Balkan :-)

I agree Beladona! The Habsburg thread is probably not the best solution. Have you any idea what might be best? Perhaps a thread devoted to the Czech lands (Crown of St. Wencelaus/Svaty Vaclav...it was his feast day last week, 28th. September), Slovakia, Hungary (Crown of St. Stephan) and Poland, as they are all geographically close (but not part of the Balkans) and the first three (plus part of Poland) formed part of the Habsburg Empire. All suggestions would be welcome!

Bohemia was never a part of Balkan, I´m from Czerch republic so I must know it.  The name Bohemia comes probably from celtis times. Bohemia is, was and I hope, will be in Middle Europa.
If i know any balkan dynasty ruled in Bohemia. So i meal its a mistake to find this thema in Balkan section. But its true, there´s no Middle European section.

I´m from Czech republic too...
And Middle European section / thread with history of Czech lands (Moravia, Silesia...), Poland, Hungary, Slovakia etc. seems to me a very good choice.

What about something like Central European Royal Families? Or Central and Eastern European royal families?

But if you write royal you should probably get off Poland, because: was Sobieski royal family? Or Wisnowiecki? Or other families form which were kings chosen? (sorry for my bad english)
What about Kings and Queens of Central Europe States?
Or just: Middle European States. Rules of Bohemia, Hungary, Poland etc.
