Brousing through this site, I came across this 3rd son of Carol II.
I knew Carol had two sons, Mircea-Carol and Mihai/Michael, but I have never heard of this Mirel Marcovici.
Was he really Carol's son ?
Who was the mother ?
What's his story ?

Hello, Jose!  I was going to direct you to the "Glittering Royal Events' Message Board," as I remembered this had been a recent topic on their "European Royals' Message Board" section, but I see that you have been there already.  Good luck in your inquiries!  Best regards,  AP.

He was the son of Mireille Marcovici, a dress maker. Sadly i have no dates but it was an early romance c 1918 (before Joana Lambrino) and soon swept under the carpet by Queen Marie

Her first name is French: Mireille
But the family name sounds roumanian: Marcovici
I wonder what's her story...

And apparently it was a long relation if, as you say, it started before the Lambrino affair, since Mirel (is that Roumanian for what ? ) was born in 1925 4 years after Mihail - according to the site.

But sadly the dates don't add up...she would have been 8 years old in 1925.

In Carol's bio it was noted that he had 2 children, both girls, I think, by his affairs. One was put up for adoption while the other was raised by the child's stepfather.

OMG Lia Lambrino aka La Trampa and the self styled title of Princess Lia of Romania, the 60 year old wife of Paul Lambrino son of King Carol II's  son Carol Mircea Lambrino aka Prince Carol of Romania by his mistress Zizi Lambrino, has finally achieved her decade and a half long quest to give her husband an heir! Unbelievably after several announced pregnancies in the past, the notorious American born socialite has finally done it!

I don't know why I am so surprised that the former Lia Triff and former Mrs Melvyn Belli went down this route in order to have a baby! She already has a thirty five year old daughter by her first husband!

Although I do not approve of IVF (There being plenty of orphans in the world who need love and care already, without adding to the population by artificial means!) I can only assume that Mr and Mrs Lambrino went down such a route in order to have baby Carol Ferdinand. I will concede that this sexagenarian mother doesn't look too bad for her age, rather taut faced I will admit, but she may even live long enough to see her son graduate from university in twenty one years time if she is lucky! Marlene has also cleared up the mix up about Lia's age too!

This must involve egg donation. Just for fun, under Romanian law is the infant treated as the legitimate child of this particular married couple, and thus heir to whatever rights the father has.

How old is Mr Lambrino? Obviously age does not of itself preclude a man from fathering a child, but is the child genetically his, I wonder?

Paul Lambrino is 61! I would say that it it is probable that Paul is the happy biological father of baby Carol! Lia has been trying for years to have a baby so I can't imagine her risking everything on a legal technicality! Even if the baby were not theirs biologically he would technically still be their heir to their chattels and whatnot eh? If Paul were a recognized Dynast and donor sperm had been used then I suppose the whole issue would have required re-thinking on that point! It is all a bit tawdry really to even contemplate! I still prefer to think that Paul is the baby's biological father! It will be interesting to see if when he grows little Carol favours his parents - a mini Paul or God forbid a mini Lia or maybe even a melange of the two of them! Time will tell!

Just my lawyer's devious mind at work.

Nothing particularly unusual about a 61-year-old father.

Resemblances can be a funny thing. My brother and I both look very like our father and not at all like our mother.

While some people are such a combination of both parents that they look like neither!
